Fall Fashion

I think it's safe to say that Autumn is a fan favorite when it comes to fashion. Bring on the layers, the sweaters and all things cozy. I wanted to do a little round up of some of my favorite finds for fall styles that won't break the bank. The best part is they are all from well known retailers like Madewell, J.Crew, Nordstrom etc. So go ahead & treat yourself before you start spending all your hard earned money on everyone else come the holiday season!

Fall Florals

I used to only associate floral prints and patterns with Spring fashion. It honestly never occurred to me that with a swift change of a color palette that floral designs would work so well come the autumnal season. I adore the more moody tones of a floral print on an ivory or black backdrop and the rich berry tones that I have been seeing out in the shops. I rounded up a few of my favorite fall florals that will easily take your wardrobe into the season. I am personally loving them in accessories like these gorgeous Coach bags & those cute embroidered pumps with the block heel. I don't know about you but I cannot wait for a less busy schedule, cozy nights in, making comfort foods and getting snuggled up in blankets again. However I know come January I will be singing a different tune...per usual.

Cash or Credit - Summer Uniform

There are quite a few trends that are taking place this summer but off the shoulder tops and dresses are surely ruling the fashion world. I have always loved this look even if it was a top that only revealed one shoulder but have always dreaded the strapless bra that was required to wear the look. Until I found this baby that is perfect for us gals with a little more chest then the rest. So in honor of my favorite trend and an outfit I am actually wearing today {similar version here}. I thought I would do a little cash or credit to get the look!

Nantucket Packing List

In a few weeks we are off for our our annual trip to Nantucket. Out of all the places in the world this little island is my absolute favorite. There are a million things to love about that gray little island, from it's uniformly beautiful town center filled with New England charm, great restaurants, multiple beaches and stunning real estate, it's easy to see why it's so loved from people everywhere. Since we will be there to celebrate the 4th of July my packing list is gravitating towards the patriotic color scheme. I mean after all it is the land of the preppy and all things Americana so I think sticking to the red white and blue will fit the bill perfectly!

Fringe Benefits

I have made a few purchases this winter that are items I find myself constantly going into the closet to grab time & time again. One of them is this black fringe poncho that I picked up during the holiday stroll on Nantucket at the Blue Beetle, the other is this cozy cardigan that is super warm and has a fun oversized safety pin that helps keep it closed when it's chilly. I noticed that these two items have some fun fringe elements in common and keep finding myself drawn to this little embellishment on other pieces. So I put together some fringed favorites to help add a little added flare to basic pieces like a comfy poncho to a classic clutch or even a great suede boot.

Currently Coveting - Vacation Wear

I don't know about you but once the holidays are over I get antsy for a warm weather trip. While I love that January is a more quite month with less plans and some good down time with my guy, I can't help but start day dreaming of a sunny vacation where a healthy rotation of piña coladas and lounging on a beach are the only things on the schedule. Luckily for us this year we have trip planned to the Caribbean next month with my entire family. I am so excited to celebrate my birthday with my favorite peeps and have started working on my packing wish list which will all be easy breezy beachwear like the looks below.

What's On The Outside

One of the best parts of this time of year is the ability to walk out the door with a great piece of outerwear on. While I am certainly not into the thought of puffers and full on snow gear, I am all about the lighter outwear like ponchos, jackets & wool coats. I compiled a few of my favorites below & added some more in the shop the post feed. The poncho/cape is definitely my go to right now. I love clothing that feels like a warm blanket wrapped around me on a cool day. As I search for a proper coat come cooler weather, I'd love to hear what's your favorite outwear?

Flat Out

I gotta be honest, I love me some heels and always prefer how they look compared to anything else but unless I am going out on a date with my man, a girls night out in the city or some sort of social event you will always find me in flats. While I have already shared some of my favorite ways to break in some new shoes, I wanted to tell you about my new favorite product Compeed that has saved my heels & toes when wearing some new flats this fall. This magical second skin adheres to your heels preventing blisters to ever happen. They are a total lifesaver with new shoes, pick up a pair & try them...your feet will be eternally grateful.
{p.s., this is not a paid product ad, I just am completely obsessed with this product}

Currently Coveting - Neutral Territory

It's no surprise that I like me some neutrals. This becomes super evident come fall where I gravitate to great basics in my favorite color palette of black, tan and ivory. Last week before we left for Italy {more coming on that trip next week} we had some time in NYC where I spotted some very fashionable women all sporting chic basics that looked so effortlessly pulled together. So I did a little round up of a few items that I am currently coveting to build a wardrobe of classics that mix well with one another and will last beyond one season.

Cash Or Credit

Good morning lovelies...excited to share today's cash or credit featuring some serious look a likes at half the cost of the designer labels. Now don't get me wrong. I love a good splurge and think a great handbag, coat or shoes can totally elevate any outfit but if you aren't sure about a trend why not test the waters with a lower priced item first? I for one have been loving the off the shoulder trend lately & was biting at the bit to share it in a look for less post. You can shop all the items below, enjoy!

Neutral Territory

If we are friends on Instagram it should come as no surprise that I rarely wear color and have been all about neutrals in my home and in my wardrobe. Some of my summer looks featuring everything white and beige as well as a little round up of some transitional pieces that bring this look right into fall are all below. Because let's face it, who follows the rules of no white after Labor Day? Not this girl!

Embroidered

As of late I have been finding myself gravitating to items with a little something extra to them. An embroidered detail or a subtle embellishment, I adore how a simple item like a sun dress or a tunic can instantly look more chic with this detail. So I put together a round up of some of my favorites below. That little pouch with the tassel is such a style steal, it might have to become mine!

Color Crush - Blue & White

Come warmer temps I find myself gravitating towards everything blue and white. In my book the two hues paired together just might be the best color combination ever. They work so well together in a variety of shades and the selection of stylish items available for your home or your closet right now are endless.  A few favorites are below.

Untitled #771

This Ralph Lauren Black Label top might be the buy of the century. I wish it was available in my size, it is so cute in person and  can be worn as a top or a light summer jacket.

An animal print clutch that is perfect for every summer outfit.

A classic color block blanket for cool summer night snuggle sessions.

Being "green" never looked so good, loving on this swirl water bottle

A nautical scarf will instantly add prep to your ensemble. I love it paired with the tassel bracelet in the coordinating color.

Growing up beach paddle was a something always packed for a day by the ocean, but they were never this cute!

I am totally obsessed with this coverup. I may just have to suck up the expensive price tag & purchase.

This pretty printed top could be the best top of the summer, loose fitting with a subtle pattern and looks amazing with white denim

A pair of blue swirl planters are so pretty with any color flower in them. I personally would fill with white hydrangeas.

This trio of baskets is perfectly pretty to store blankets, toys or even as a hamper.

Stripes & dots in a preppy navy/white color combo equals pillow perfection

Stackable chevron bone boxes with indigo accents will be pretty on any shelf to store petite trinkets.

Ikat shorts are super cute for casual days with a t-shirt and sandals.

Comfy pajamas for when the temperatures rise and wearing pants seems claustrophobic.

A beautiful patterned tray for serving snacks on.

Cash Or Credit - Lady in White

The other day I tried on the most gorgeous white midi dress that had a pleated skirt and fitted top. I felt like a million dollars in it {which is a serious rarity lately}. Then I looked at the price tag and I wanted to cry at how expensive it was. While I do believe in a splurge here and there, I couldn't justify another big purchase. It did however inspire me to create a cash or credit with similar styles. I am totally obsessed with this lady like look with it's soft color palette and sophisticated style. A trench will get some serious wear here in New England but if you want to take on a more trendy color like a baby blue then I would definitely choose to save on it. A little white dress is a wardrobe staple and my nude pumps might be the most worn item come Spring so that definitely was worth a splurge for me. Check out the two looks below at the two very different price points. Happy Shopping!

Covered Up

It may be snowing AGAIN outside but I can't help dream of summer and the carefree fashions that go along with it. While we were away in St. Barth's I was so inspired by the colorful island style that surrounded me. It had me craving more breezy casual clothing, living in your bathing suit all day and life on the beach. One trend that I was all about was the comfortable beach pant and jumpsuits {wearing this one in that last photo}. It was so easy to throw on pants over my bathing suit and head to the pool or the beach without any effort. So I created four looks featuring just that, one bathing suit {I always prefer a one piece} that is perfectly coordinated with beach pants, jumpsuit and all beachwear accoutrement. So whether your stockpiling for summer like moi or planning a warm weather getaway, now is the time to get your favorite looks before they are gone!

Striped

When I think of striped items I generally gravitate towards navy and white. It's classic, nautical and preppy, three things I love in home style and fashion. However I got inspired by yesterday's post where Sienna Miller wore a stripe on stripe look that was all black and white.  While that particular look was a bit too bold for my personal taste it did get me thinking about black and white stripes and how they translate so well from treats for your home to items for your closet. In the past I would shy away from this combo due to fears of looking like Beetlejuice or even worse The Hamburglar but after some research I noticed there are some seriously chic black and white striped combo's out there. A little round up of some of my favorites are below.

Pattern Play

I am a big fan of solids in my wardrobe. I hardly ever gravitate towards a pattern but always love them when they are on others. However, I recently looked in my closet and was totally bored with every single thing I owned and I think adding some fun prints are a great way to put a little oomph into your outfits. I have been collecting a few of my favorite patterened pieces that I am debating on welcoming into the closet. Some even pair well with one another like that subtle cobalt print shirt and that artistic floral clutch. However, nothing beats my favorite patterned leopard shoes that go with everything! What is your favorite way to wear prints?
