Holiday Gift Guide - For The Host/Hostess

I know it feels way to early to be thinking about your holiday shopping lists but I couldn't resist sharing my first holiday gift guide with you all to help get prepped for all the festivities that are surely filling up your calendar for next month. We have been so fortunate in our new home to have hosted a few dinner parties and our guests have seriously spoiled us with the most generous gifts. So I wanted to kick off the gift guides with some inspiration for giving to the host/hostess that show know how to throw a party. Some are items I have personally received and loved and some are on my list to give to friends and family this holiday season. 

Clare V. is always a stop for me during my holiday shopping lists. Her clutches are seriously stylish so I naturally adored her market tote. 

Who doesn't love a sassy gift here or there. These naughty & nice glasses are adorable and hilarious. If you want to be a little more sophisticated there are a ton more to choose from. 

Giving gifts to men always seems to be a challenge for me. I always thinking picking up their favorite six pack with a nice bottle opener fits the bill for the male host. 

Who doesn't love to receive a good bottle of vino?! Make the gift a little extra special with a this wine tote, or these adorable wine brown bags. 

A throw may seem like an odd thing to gift for hostessing a party but I couldn't resist the adorable pom pom trim on this one. 

 A special memory can be gifted in a beautiful geometric shaped frame. 

A soft scented candle and coordinating matches are always a solid go to gift. 

We always see flasks for men that are super cute, but this one is perfect for ladies...I love how it looks like a bracelet and comes in fun colors. 

Game night in is always a welcome gift for a family. Love these colorful cards & this artistic puzzle. 

I was gifted this salt cellar & fresh sea salt last year & it's so functional and pretty on our countertops. 

A chic desk calendar to keep a stylish friend up to date. 

Monogrammed gifts always let the receiver know you thought ahead, these shield style boards are so perfect for the entertaining at the holidays. 

A chic paper weight let's your gift recipient know they are a good egg. 

A great gift for the gardener/cook who loves their own fresh herbs at an arms reach. Or flowers in this darling vase. 

This entire set of blue & gold ceramics is stunning but I am partial to the pedestal bowl filled with a holiday snack of course.

Currently Coveting

With a rainy weekend ahead here in Boston, I have a feeling my husband and I will be having a very low key weekend...I absolutely loathe going out in the rain and instead I plan on spending all day Saturday watching movies in our pajamas and perhaps even indulge in a little online shopping. I have had my eye on a few items and while I won't be getting all of them I do believe one of those beauties below will have to become mine. I am loving that flare jeans are back along with some other 70's styles like fringe. I totally welcome the bohemian and hippie chic look with open arms. Oh and that little white dress might just be the most perfect feminine frock for this summer's  parties...now if only I could learn to not spill whenever I wear white. The other day I tried on the most gorgeous white midi dress that had a pleated skirt and fitted top. I felt like a million dollars in it {which is a serious rarity lately}. Then I looked at the price tag and I wanted to cry at how expensive it was. While I do believe in a splurge here and there, I couldn't justify another big purchase. It did however inspire me to create a cash or credit with similar styles. I am totally obsessed with this lady like look with it's soft color palette and sophisticated style. A trench will get some serious wear here in New England but if you want to take on a more trendy color like a baby blue then I would definitely choose to save on it. A little white dress is a wardrobe staple and my nude pumps might be the most worn item come Spring so that definitely was worth a splurge for me. Stylish Sales - Black Friday

Every year at Thanksgiving we stuff our faces with the traditional holiday feast and then we roll out the Christmas movies...you know, the classics like National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. Happy Friday friends, I don't know about you but I am ready for the weekend! Tonight we have a fun double date planned with one of my favorite couples at a new Boston restaurant that I have been excited to try. Work travel has had us on the road quite a bit lately so being home for a few nights is a real treat. Saturday we plan on strolling the city and come fall the first item I am to break out of my closet is my be loved poncho. I just love when the weather allows you to be in cozy clothes that feel like a warm blanket wrapped around you. While I am welcoming the cooler temps, I am not quite ready for the hellish wintry mix New England gets all too often.  I just love being able to walk out the door in a sweater and some jeans for a comfortable day time look.

The Colors of Autumn

I am so happy I live in a part of the country that has a full four seasons. Ok...ok, I admit come January I am 100% hating on winter and begging my husband to take me away to warmer climates but September - December has by far got to be my favorite months in New England. Boston was made for this time of year...the falling leaves perfectly coordinate with the old brick buildings and the  mild temps are just right for strolling around comfortably. While I find my closet is consumed by lots of black and white, I do love the colors that are inspired by fall and look forward to embracing the warmer hues all season long.  So bring on the rich golds, forest greens, pumpkin oranges, burgundy's and navy's... Off to ACK

After we celebrate my friends amazing wedding this weekend we are off to Nantucket for a few weeks. I absolutely cannot wait to be out of the city and living a bit of an island life with my main squeeze. Packing always feels like a daunting task as I wish I could just bring my entire closet instead of planning outfits for the trip. But when it comes to summer getaways I find it easier to just pick a color palette like navy & white and go from there. Since Nantucket is the land of the preppy, I will be pretty much living in my favorite casual basics. While away I am not sure how the internet service will be at our little bungalow rental so my posts may not be everyday but I will be sharing some island enchantments on instagram so come say hi!
