I remember in my early twenties when slip camisoles were the hottest style out there. I loved pairing them with a cropped ballet sweater and some denim, that outfit always made me feel sexy without revealing too much. While that look may be retired for me these days I do love the look of lingerie style items that are made for wearing anytime. Whether it be an item trim med in eyelash lace or a dress with a silky nightgown silhouette, there is something that draws me in which inspired todays cash or credit.
I sort of hate myself for thinking of fall fashion when the summer season is still so fun and full of life. I honestly haven't picked up a single thing for the autumn but that doesn't mean my wish list isn't growing by the day. When it comes to dressing for the cooler weather I alway like to build my wardrobe on quality basics. Things that work well with one another, share a common color palette and that will stand the test of trends. A few of my favorites finds for the fall are below. What are you wishing for your closet come October?
shop all of the above & more
A great blazer will get some serious wear before the cold weather really hits. It's a clean cut and so perfectly preppy with it's popped collar and rich navy coloring {several other colors available}.
When it comes to shoes, I tend to splurge a bit. I love a quality flat as they get worn the most with city living. I absolutely love a stylish flat in a sassy leopard print for adding a little pattern to a basic outfit. A great looking black bootie is also a must have for me, I adore the pointy toe on this pair. Finally the scalloped edges on this pump have me weak in the knees. I just love the sweet simplicity style of these suede babies. They look great with dresses, skirts, denim and so much more.
Accessories are my favorite things to shop for. Whether it be a great hand bag{my absolute favorite thing to buy} or some pretty jewelry, I always like to keep it rather simple. A gold hoop is my go to most days and when I want something more I'll add in a statement earring. A great watch is a must and a clutch in a fun pattern or print is a great way to elevate an otherwise simple outfit. Finally a stylish scarf to wear around your neck or tied to your bag and definitely don't forget to add some classic aviators for those sunny yet cool days.
Hopefully this weekend is a long one for you all & that you are having a great one celebrating Valentines Day. Since it's absolutely freezing in Boston any shopping we will be doing will be strictly online. If you too want to take advanatage of all the sales. Have you guys checked out all the online sales going on this weekend. It is SO good. I put together a little list of the best deals & my favorite items at the best shops so you can start your holiday shopping early or just pick yourself up a little treat. Happy Shopping!
Helllloooo friends...so sorry for the radio silence here on the old bloggity blog. The last two weeks of summer were a literal blur and after having a weeks worth of guests staying with us and visiting family back home for the holiday weekend we are now getting settled back into our city life. I don't know about you but seeing fall fashions hitting the stores has me excited for some cooler weather. I'm not talking snow yet people...just enough of a change to welcome some changes in the old wardrobe. I feel it's safe to say that we are all tired of our summer favorites and have worn everything at least a million times no? I have made a few purchases for fall and have been trying to find ways to wear them now and imagine how I will wear them come the change of seasons. My first purchase was this fluted skirt which I plan to wear on an upcoming trip but also wanted to show how I will wear it come fall. I have to say I am loving it with tights and my favorite block heel pumps!
It may be Monday but I have nothing but the Fourth of July weekend on my brain. I am so looking forward to head to Shelter Island for some time with my guy and family. Since I tend to overpack no matter where we go (and it completely makes my husband crazy), I am planning my outfits ahead of time and trying to be strategic on what won't take up a lot of space in my weekender. The answer for me is packing one garment outfits like dresses and jumpsuits. Nothing is easier and more comfortable then throwing on a single item and having an instant outfit. I have been living in them this summer for comfort and ease. They translate so well as a day time look as a coverup or comfy outfit doing errands in to swapping out some dressier shoes and clutch for an evening out. To get my favorite look of the summer below I put together two nearly identical outfits at two very different price points.
I so don't want to wish away summer, especially since it's still so cold here in Boston but to say I am excited to move into our new home would be a severe understatement. I am working on each little area of the apartment to find the perfect pieces to make it really feel like ours even if it's just a rental while we continue to search for our forever home. Since I already shared the kitchen, I thought I would share the little area that will be our entry. A place to store our shoes, keys, mail and so on. I know, I know...more white...I just want to keep the space clutter free and airy. I am totally obsessed with the faceted mirror for last minute make up checks while heading out the door. The decorative box will be perfect for storing keys and miscellaneous objects while the tray will hold the mail and fresh blooms are always a must in my home. Have a great day everyone!
With a rainy weekend ahead here in Boston, I have a feeling my husband and I will be having a very low key weekend...I absolutely loathe going out in the rain and instead I plan on spending all day Saturday watching movies in our pajamas and perhaps even indulge in a little online shopping. I have had my eye on a few items and while I won't be getting all of them I do believe one of those beauties below will have to become mine. I am loving that flare jeans are back along with some other 70's styles like fringe. I totally welcome the bohemian and hippie chic look with open arms. Oh and that little white dress might just be the most perfect feminine frock for this summer's parties...now if only I could learn to not spill whenever I wear white. What are you currently coveting?
shop them all below update - poncho sold out - I found on sale here

Hope everyone will be enjoying the long weekend with their friends & family! We may a bit of rain in our future here on Shelter Island so I have a feeling I will be taking advantage of the major sales going on this holiday weekend. J.Crew is the clear winner with it's 30% off using code WEEKENDPLANS. I have all the items below in my shopping cart but will have to severely narrow it down to one or two items so my husband doesn't divorce me. What is on your wish list this fall???

{great time to pick up these cute wear with everything faux leather pants}
Piperlime is offering 20% off with code FALL20 . I have my eye on this amazing coat.
Banana Republic has 30% off with code BRWEEKEND. I have been living in this sweater all weekend long and bought this dress in every color - so figure flattering.
Club Monaco is offering up to $100 off with code FALLSALE. Boston friends, have you seen the new shop in Copley - it's so good! I am totally digging these lingerie like cami's & this edgy blazer.
Often collaborations with high end designers with affordable retailers don't always translate as well as we would hope. I often get excited over the hype and then let down when I see the actual products in person. I still can't help but hold hope when two awesome brands come together and create limited edition products that are not only stylish but also affordable. First up, the Missoni & Converse capsule available at Nordstrom. I personally am not a sneaker gal outside of the gym but I think I would totally sport some of those fancy kicks below {probably not the high tops} for travel and in place of flats on casual dressing days.
Next up is the super chic line of clothing created by Roland Mouret & Banana Republic. The office ready looks are sleek and modern without losing that classic style that Banana customers love. Never mind all the swoon worthy new arrivals since Marissa Webb took over - so good!
Finally have you seen the new line of fine jewelry that Jennifer Fisher did with J.Crew? It's so dainty and the layering of charms is so fun, I love the simple design, something you won't tire of. You can see more of their In Good Company lines here.
After we celebrate my friends amazing wedding this weekend we are off to Nantucket for a few weeks. I absolutely cannot wait to be out of the city and living a bit of an island life with my main squeeze. Packing always feels like a daunting task as I wish I could just bring my entire closet instead of planning outfits for the trip. But when it comes to summer getaways I find it easier to just pick a color palette like navy & white and go from there. Since Nantucket is the land of the preppy, I will be pretty much living in my favorite casual basics. While away I am not sure how the internet service will be at our little bungalow rental so my posts may not be everyday but I will be sharing some island enchantments on instagram so come say hi!
I have been on a bit of a zipper obsession. Nearly any item that boasts this little detail instantly draws my attention. Gone are the days of hiding the closure on your garments, it's all about exposing them and having them stand out for an added oomph of style. This is definitely one trend I am on board with. I have picked up a few of the items below for myself thought I'd share a few others that have caught my eye like those booties which are such an affordable find!
Adding some extra sparkle to your look doesn't always have to come in the form of jewelry. I have always adored a beaded evening bag to dress up jeans and blazers or to give a more formal look a little extra something. While major designers like Marchesa and Jason Wu make extraordinarily beautiful embellished bags you don't have to spend $3K+ to get the look. Just take a looksie at the adorned beauties below that are all under $250!
While I took advantage of the online sales over Thanksgiving and did a lot of my Christmas shopping online it doesn't mean I wont be in the stores picking up some last minute gifts for my loved ones. When it comes to shopping I always like to select an outfit that is comfortable yet stylish and something that doesn't require me schlepping around my winter coat store to store. Also a cross-body bag is the most essential element to keep hands free for all your shopping bags!
The other day I popped in Banana Republic for a few basics like my favorite tank top and was totally impressed with their new fall line. Banana was always my go to for professional work styles but with my most recent visit I was loving so much more then their classic professional pieces. I picked up this coat and a great pair of ankle zip denim{I am obsessed with anything zippers} and this dress for an upcoming baby shower. With the shop more save more, I saved mucho dinero! Check out other favorites from the new fall line available now.
