Happy Friday friends...SO happy the weekend is here! While we are off to Maine to celebrate my husbands birthday I wanted to share a little cash or credit with you all before we go. The tie neck {I refuse to call it what it's actual name is} is a major trend happening in everything from dresses to blouses. Just this week I wore this style with this dress. I plan on living in silk blouses, comfy flats & denim all fall. It is always my full proof outfit that I feel best in so I wanted to use my personal style as some inspiration for todays get the look for less. Happy Weekend!

Currently Coveting - Basic Instincts
I sort of hate myself for thinking of fall fashion when the summer season is still so fun and full of life. I honestly haven't picked up a single thing for the autumn but that doesn't mean my wish list isn't growing by the day. When it comes to dressing for the cooler weather I alway like to build my wardrobe on quality basics. Things that work well with one another, share a common color palette and that will stand the test of trends. A few of my favorites finds for the fall are below. What are you wishing for your closet come October?
shop all of the above & more
A great blazer will get some serious wear before the cold weather really hits. It's a clean cut and so perfectly preppy with it's popped collar and rich navy coloring {several other colors available}.
When it comes to shoes, I tend to splurge a bit. I love a quality flat as they get worn the most with city living. I absolutely love a stylish flat in a sassy leopard print for adding a little pattern to a basic outfit. A great looking black bootie is also a must have for me, I adore the pointy toe on this pair. Finally the scalloped edges on this pump have me weak in the knees. I just love the sweet simplicity style of these suede babies. They look great with dresses, skirts, denim and so much more.
It goes without saying how important a great pair of denim is. While I do like a distressed look, I don't want holes all over the place, especially when it's cool out. This pair is a steal for under $50 but I also really love this pair & this pair too. Want some great fall colored denim, check out this pair.
Accessories are my favorite things to shop for. Whether it be a great hand bag {my absolute favorite thing to buy} or some pretty jewelry, I always like to keep it rather simple. A gold hoop is my go to most days and when I want something more I'll add in a statement earring. A great watch is a must and a clutch in a fun pattern or print is a great way to elevate an otherwise simple outfit. Finally a stylish scarf to wear around your neck or tied to your bag and definitely don't forget to add some classic aviators for those sunny yet cool days.
Is there a better fall jacket then a trench? I absolutely love this one which looks exactly like the much higher priced tagged version. A great poncho over a stylish sweater is another fall favorite. I lived in this one {can purchase here} all winter, it's like wearing a hug.
Last but not least, my favorite wardrobe essentials are a great little black dress {seen in floral here} something striped like this cute sleeveless top {also love this always stylish tee} and a solid colored silk blouse. I love the lace up details on this one, the double pockets on this one as well as all the colors it comes in & the tunic style of this one.

Weekend Wear - Halloween Costume Inspiration
Growing up Halloween was always one of my favorite holidays. In elementary school it was all about the parade and getting to show off your costume to all the classes {minus the one time my mother made me be gum stuck under a table}. In high school it was all about staying out late and having shaving cream fights with your friends and of course coming back looking like a hot mess. In college it was all about the rented costume where me and my friends went all out for the campus parties. When I was in my twenties my tune changed and I wanted creative costumes that weren't from the store but from clothes I could wear again which included a time when I was a construction worker and wore my favorite destroyed denim with a boy's undershirt tank top {skin tight of course} and pink hard hat and tool belt. Another year it was a pirate of the Caribbean and another Carrie from Sex And The City. While my days of dressing up have unfortunately been over for quite a bit I still can't help but try to imagine a costume I would love to wear and when I saw the stylish Halloween accessories at BCBG I knew I could put together a fun costume worth sharing with you all. What are you dressing up as???

Meet Me In The Middle
Earlier this summer I jumped on board with the midi trend when I purchased this dress. The starburst printed dress quickly became a favorite of mine to throw on for casual and for dressier occasions as the length allowed me to wear a casual thong sandal or my beloved kitten heel version. This in between length is elegant and easy breezy to wear, a double win in my book. Unlike it's not too distant relative the maxi dress, your hem will not drag along the streets or cause you to trip as you walk around town {like I have done so many many times}. Since I am so completely smitten with this new to me length I purchased another midi length dress and thought I would share some other stylish finds in this lady like length so you can give it a try in your wardrobe!

Bombshell
I was literally stopped in my tracks when I saw Kate Upton on the cover of Vogue this month. This American beauty first stood out to me when she graced the cover of Sports Illustrated and the fact that so many critics said she was a "heavier" then some other SI models of the past left me flabergasted. This clearly infuriated me as this was the furthest thing from the truth. What I saw was an all american bombshell who resembled another style icon of the past. Then Vogue got their pretty little hands on her and created a stunning photo-shoot with incredible fashion and the correct heading. While she wears some of my favorite designers in this issue like Matthew Williamson, Stella McCartney, Givenchy and so on. I thought I would create some looks inspired by the shoot to help recreate this fabulous style without going bankrupt.

Summer Style
As I enter the homestretch of my last two weeks in the corporate world I can't help but have one thing on my mind and that is summertime. I am dreaming of days of being poolside or the beach and wearing nothing but a bathing suit and cute cover up all day long. Since we spend most of our summers on Shelter Island you will likely find me being casual 24/7 but that doesn't mean being fashionable is thrown out the door or that you need to empty your wallet to look fabulous. All these looks below are well under $100 and available in a variety of sizes - a little something for everyone!

Bad Ass Boots
Last winter my sister purchased some biker boots and while I wasn't quite sure about this edgy look when I saw them on her I was totally in love with them and having boot envy. Since then I keep seeing these biker boots popping up everywhere I turn so I investigated a bit more and found a few of my favorites to share with you all. I seriously cannot believe Dr. Martin's are back in style, what's next Z.Cavaricci's??? Is this style for you or is it too rough around the edges???

color crush - navy
This past weekend I ventured away from my routine blah manicure of a pale pink or white and got a bold sapphire navy blue. I never wear dark colors on my nails but I have been on a serious navy kick lately and went for it. While my husband absolutely loathes it, I am glad I gave it a spin and think it's so fun to experiment with color in the form of polish. Since I have been staring at my paws typing all day at work I thought I would put together some of my favorite navy items that I have been coveting because afterall what is there not to love about this classic color. It looks great on everyone and compliments so many other colors brilliantly. The navy J.Crew tank below is the latest edition to my closet, cannot wait to pair it with some dark jeans and my gold metallic pumps on our vacation in Napa next week! Which is your favorite navy item???

white out
Is there anything more crisp clean & chic then an all white outfit??? {perhaps an all black outfit but we will save that for a fall/winter post} I am totally adoring white on white in all it's forms. Whether you wear it, decorate with it or host a soiree with this color as your all around palette you are sure to look pulled together and polished. I love it mostly in the summer but thanks to silly fashion rules such as "no white after labor day" being thrown out the window this look is acceptable in any season. Just take a look below at the beautiful styles of white on white ensembles. My favorite is pairing it with a tan belt between the pieces to give your look a little added interest. The best part of this monochromatic style is that you can accessorize it a ton or none at all, either way you will look uber chic!

pretty peplums - part two
You have seen how to style peplum tops in part one but how about wearing a peplum dress, skirt or a jacket? I have to admit that the jacket may be my favorite use of this trend. A big time lover of all outerwear and blazers this should come as no surprise.I think it's so pretty to have that slight feminine ruffle detail on the outside of your outfit and it's a great way to warm up to the trend too. I have been coveting this striped peplum jacket since the spring and luckily it has sold out everywhere because so I wont able to pull the trigger on spending crazy cash on a jacket that has such a trendy feature regardless of it's total perfection.
