Weekend Wear - The Classic White Shirt

When it comes to wardrobe staples a classic white button down shirt is almost always mentioned but often is not is where to find this key item. Enter "the icon" shirt {which is finally back in stock & on it's way to me}. The reviews on this shirt completely sold me on it and I know I will be getting a lot of wear with it through all the seasons. I especially love pairing it with other wardrobe essentials like a great blazer, pumps and of course something leopard.

Bombshell

I was literally stopped in my tracks when I saw Kate Upton on the cover of Vogue this month. This American beauty first stood out to me when she graced the cover of Sports Illustrated and the fact that so many critics said she was a "heavier" then some other SI models of the past left me flabergasted. This clearly infuriated me as this was the furthest thing from the truth. What I saw was an all american bombshell who resembled another style icon of the past. Then Vogue got their pretty little hands on her and created a stunning photo-shoot with incredible fashion and the correct heading. While she wears some of my favorite designers in this issue like Matthew Williamson, Stella McCartney, Givenchy and so on. I thought I would create some looks inspired by the shoot to help recreate this fabulous style without going bankrupt.

weekend wear - comfy & casual

When the weekend arrives I always want an outfit that is easy but stylish. Come warmer weather, I always turn to comfy day dresses that can work with a sensible flat or a heeled sandal for the evening. Since we are only breaking into the high 60's here in Boston, I am not quite able to pull off the sleeveless summer dress just yet. Which is why I became instantly smitten with this cuffed sleeve dress, perfect for this in between weather. You can layer it with a casual jacket for a chillier day or wear alone with some great accessories like in the example below.

What is your comfy & casual weekend look???

Party to Outfit

Just because the holidays are over doesn't mean that their isn't a reason to host a fabulous dinner party with the people whose company you enjoy the most. I love love love to entertain but don't always have the chance to host more then four people at a time in our home. I imagine when we have a bigger house with a dining area I will be calling on my friends for lots of stay in dinners filled with pretty details like this one featured on the wedding chicks. While I generally gravitate to anything gold, black and a pop of pink , I knew that as soon as I saw the image below I would use for a party to outfit feature! That adorable zebra paper popped up everywhere this holiday season and I love the idea of using decorative wrapping paper as decor on a table setting - genius!

The Big Bangle Theory

Bracelets have always been a warm weather accessories for me. I feel totally suffocated wearing bracelets with long sleeves and usually resort to earrings or necklaces for adorning my outfits. However if I do wear a bracelet, it's always a bangle. I love their clean lines and their ability to stack easily. I think they look especially chic worn a bit higher on the arm when wearing a dress or something sleeveless. How do you like to wear bracelets, layer em on, or pick one and keep it simple???

Accessorize by color

As children we all had color by number to guide us on how to make a work of art with little effort. I decided to take this idea a step further and utilize it in an accessory guide for us gals who love to adorn their ensembles with some fab accoutrement. These days we have endless mediums of inspiration for our fashion styling. Whether you like to browse a  magazine, pinterest, or blogs it is quite easy to get your daily dose of pretty in and I hope that this blog is a stop along the way!
