Cash or Credit - Slip Style

I remember in my early twenties when slip camisoles were the hottest style out there. I loved pairing them with a cropped ballet sweater and some denim, that outfit always made me feel sexy without revealing too much. While that look may be retired for me these days I do love the look of lingerie style items that are made for wearing anytime. Whether it be an item trim med in eyelash lace or a dress with a silky nightgown silhouette, there is something that draws me in which inspired todays cash or credit.

Currently Coveting - Basic Instincts

I sort of hate myself for thinking of fall fashion when the summer season is still so fun and full of life. I honestly haven't picked up a single thing for the autumn but that doesn't mean my wish list isn't growing by the day. When it comes to dressing for the cooler weather I alway like to build my wardrobe on quality basics. Things that work well with one another, share a common color palette and that will stand the test of trends. A few of my favorites finds for the fall are below. What are you wishing for your closet come October?

A great blazer will get some serious wear before the cold weather really hits. It's a clean cut and so perfectly preppy with it's popped collar and rich navy coloring {several other colors available}.

When it comes to shoes, I tend to splurge a bit. I love a quality flat as they get worn the most with city living. I absolutely love a stylish flat in a sassy leopard print for adding a little pattern to a basic outfit. A great looking black bootie is also a must have for me, I adore the pointy toe on this pair. Finally the scalloped edges on this pump have me weak in the knees. I just love the sweet simplicity style of these suede babies. They look great with dresses, skirts, denim and so much more.

It goes without saying how important a great pair of denim is. While I do like a distressed look, I don't want holes all over the place, especially when it's cool out. This pair is a steal for under $50 but I also really love this pair & this pair too. Want some great fall colored denim, check out this pair.

Accessories are my favorite things to shop for. Whether it be a great hand bag {my absolute favorite thing to buy} or some pretty jewelry, I always like to keep it rather simple. A gold hoop is my go to most days and when I want something more I'll add in a statement earring. A great watch is a must and a clutch in a fun pattern or print is a great way to elevate an otherwise simple outfit. Finally a stylish scarf to wear around your neck or tied to your bag and definitely don't forget to add some classic aviators for those sunny yet cool days.

Is there a better fall jacket then a trench? I absolutely love this one which looks exactly like the much higher priced tagged version. A great poncho over a stylish sweater is another fall favorite. I lived in this one {can purchase here} all winter, it's like wearing a hug.

Last but not least, my favorite wardrobe essentials are a great little black dress {seen in floral here} something striped like this cute sleeveless top {also love this always stylish tee} and a solid colored silk blouse. I love the lace up details on this one, the double pockets on this one as well as all the colors it comes in & the tunic style of this one

Monday Blues

Happy Monday friends...While the skies are quite gray in these parts I have nothing but baby blues on my mind. On the rare occasions that I wear color I often find myself gravitating to soft colors and this mix of chambray and periwinkle fits the bill perfectly. Its so pretty in floral prints and is matches so well with grays, blushes and whites. I can't wait to add some of these pieces into my spring wardrobe that most definitely needs some work!

Cash Or Credit

A long time ago when I lived in a house full of boys {no idea how I survived almost three years of that} we decided to throw a pretty awesome halloween party. At this said party one of my roommates dressed up as another roommate as his costume and I have to say it was pretty awesome! He nailed the Boston accent, copied the fellas work uniform and pretty much took on his persona for the entire evening including sayings, movements and so on. Everyone kept asking the person who was being imitated, are you mad about Matt's costume to which he replied "imitation is the highest form of flattery". I don't know why that story came to mind as I put together today's post but it does seem a bit relevant in the cash or credit feature below. I mean, these dresses are almost identical except minus the price tags. I have to imagine that in the fashion world copying a high end designer is nothing new and but is indeed not the highest form of flattery. No one likes their work being copied or stolen. However as someone who wouldn't likely pay the higher price tag for a denim dress, I am happy there are brands making a more wallet friendly option.

Cash or Credit - Caped Crusader

Happy Friday friends, I don't know about you but I am ready for the weekend! Tonight we have a fun double date planned with one of my favorite couples at a new Boston restaurant that I have been excited to try. Work travel has had us on the road quite a bit lately so being home for a few nights is a real treat. Saturday we plan on strolling the city and come fall the first item I am to break out of my closet is my be loved poncho. I just love when the weather allows you to be in cozy clothes that feel like a warm blanket wrapped around you. While I am welcoming the cooler temps, I am not quite ready for the hellish wintry mix New England gets all too often.  I just love being able to walk out the door in a sweater and some jeans for a comfortable day time look.
What are you up to this weekend?

Belt It Out - Part Two

While I have already shared my love of belts and their many purposes here. What I didn't include in that post was a statement belt to give your waistline a little added sparkle. I have a sparkly belt stowed away that I purchased a while back from Club Monaco that is still waiting to be worn and been thinking of ways to incorporate it with items I already own. Who says a sparkly belt has to be reserved for only your big day?! With all the options out there you can definitely adorn a bland ensemble with any of the beauties below. Which lead me to creating some different ways to show off the statement belts below in all different styles.

Accessorize by color

As children we all had color by number to guide us on how to make a work of art with little effort. I decided to take this idea a step further and utilize it in an accessory guide for us gals who love to adorn their ensembles with some fab accoutrement. These days we have endless mediums of inspiration for our fashion styling. Whether you like to browse a  magazine, pinterest, or blogs it is quite easy to get your daily dose of pretty in and I hope that this blog is a stop along the way!

derby day

I can't help share an entire post about one of my all time favorite events, The Kentucky Derby. I love the old school style that the day brings in fashion. It's a perfect reason for a pretty dress, big hat, cheering on your horse and basking drinking on a beautiful Spring Day - yes please! I grew up at the race track, I used to joke with people that we put on our Sunday's best and headed to the track instead of church and to be honest I wouldn't have it any other way. While Belmont Race Park is hardly as elegant or glamorous as tracks down South, I loved going when I was little, my dad would let me help place the bets, we could visit our horses before the races and meet the jockey who was riding our pony and then we got to scream our heads off cheering on our horses during the race. If we were lucky the horse won and we got to go stand in the winners circle for a picture which I thought was super cool when I was little.  Don't worry all you animal lovers out there (like my family) my father often joked that his horses lived better then us. They worked only a few days a year, lived in the highest quality stables and went somewhere warm for the winter to relax in the off season, not a bad life. When a horse of ours retired my family would always give them to farms to be trained for riding or breeding, never put down for injury or age.

While my friends and I attempted to be glamorous and attend a derby event of our own a few years ago it somehow it somehow got a little fudged. No cabs available, no need to panic, we can go via pedi cab cross town with four people no problemo!  Below was the start to one of the most fun days ever with my ladies.

(my husband said my hat was ready for a hillbilly derby - hate when he is right - what do you want for $10 at H&M)

Easter Dress

I believe us ladies are never too old to deserve a new dress for Easter. I always love having a reason to get dolled up and what better occasion then a holiday that in my house was solely celebrated around getting the family together to eat and drink. I know my four adorable nieces will be decked out in the cutest of dresses so why shouldn't their Aunt Heidi not join in on the fun! I purchased the below floral dress a while back and have been hoping to have an opportunity to wear it somewhere - I think it screams Easter with it's bold colors and print. What are you wearing this Easter???
