Cash Or Credit

A long time ago when I lived in a house full of boys {no idea how I survived almost three years of that} we decided to throw a pretty awesome halloween party. At this said party one of my roommates dressed up as another roommate as his costume and I have to say it was pretty awesome! He nailed the Boston accent, copied the fellas work uniform and pretty much took on his persona for the entire evening including sayings, movements and so on. Everyone kept asking the person who was being imitated, are you mad about Matt's costume to which he replied "imitation is the highest form of flattery". I don't know why that story came to mind as I put together today's post but it does seem a bit relevant in the cash or credit feature below. I mean, these dresses are almost identical except minus the price tags. I have to imagine that in the fashion world copying a high end designer is nothing new and but is indeed not the highest form of flattery. No one likes their work being copied or stolen. However as someone who wouldn't likely pay the higher price tag for a denim dress, I am happy there are brands making a more wallet friendly option.

Fringe Benefits

I have made a few purchases this winter that are items I find myself constantly going into the closet to grab time & time again. One of them is this black fringe poncho that I picked up during the holiday stroll on Nantucket at the Blue Beetle, the other is this cozy cardigan that is super warm and has a fun oversized safety pin that helps keep it closed when it's chilly. I noticed that these two items have some fun fringe elements in common and keep finding myself drawn to this little embellishment on other pieces. So I put together some fringed favorites to help add a little added flare to basic pieces like a comfy poncho to a classic clutch or even a great suede boot.

Horsing Around

Aren't horses one of the most beautiful animals? Personally they have always been a big part of our  family. My niece rides year round which teaches her grooming, safety, competition and discipline. We also grew up visiting the track to see my dad's horses race {don't worry when they were retired they all went to live the good life on a farm where they were trained to be riding horses}. The equine has also offered inspiration for numerous luxury brands like Polo {dying to try their new resto here in NYC}, Coach, Longchamp, Gucci & Hermes. Which proves that this magnificent animal provides style in everything from decor in your home to fashionable items for the closet to jewelry to adorn ourselves in.

Bucket List

I am a pretty handbag obsessed person. While I personally favor totes and cross-body styles, the "bucket" bag is definitely the new trend this season. I personally remember this pouch like purse growing up when my sister had a similar style from Coach.  Doesn't it seem like all trends eventually make a full circle and come back in style, which leads me to having to ask, are you willing to give trends a second chance???

Weekend Wear - Birthday Suit

I feel like turning thirty five is a significant birthday and worthy of a treat to gift myself. This dress by Diane Von Furstenburg might just be the front runner for a perfect birthday dinner date along with some other upcoming travel, bridal showers and so on. I mean it's named the Heidi dress, so it's destined to be in my closet right???

Mad For Plaid

Is there any print out there more appropriate for the holiday season then plaid? Every year around this time I am drawn to the cozy pattern. It has me dreaming of snowy nights in the city, warm fires, hot beverages, snuggles with my puppy {& husband} and of course Christmas songs playing in the background {this is my favorite song}. It's pretty much the quintessential winter pattern out there and made me inspired to share a few of my favorite tartan printed items for the home and the wardrobe.

A velvety Pendleton throw is super cozy for a chilly winter evening along with a cup of hot cocoa in this set of plaid mugs or a snack on these plates. Holiday entertaining is a breeze with these monogrammed napkins, also a thoughtful hostess gift. A traditional plaid scarf looks super chic over a solid wool coat, especially when it's a total steal at $13! Tech accessories need a wardrobe change for the season too, this lap top case is perfect for protecting your computer from the winter weather. I have a complete obsession with clutches and I am seriously swooning over this flannel beauty with the chain detail. A flirty skirt is super fun for the winter months when paired with opaque tights and a classic black sweater. How amazing would these plaid heels be on Christmas with an all black outfit, NEED! No animals hurt in the making of this adorable antler print, perfect for some seasonal decorating. This bow tie bracelet is preppy perfection for your wrist. More subtle embellishments like these adorable brogue plaid barettes and trio of brooches that look amazing on your outwear or blazer lapel. Finally you can go bold with a plaid dress in a wonderfully simple plaid print. I adore it's shift silhouette which can be made edgier with a cute moto jacket {available here too & a total style steal}.

happy shopping & thank you for stopping by!

Color Crush - Gray

coat // necklace {DNS favorite} // shoes // sunglasses // ear muff's // clutch // sweater {have & love} // watch // skirt

I am not sure if it's the frigid winter days here in Boston or the simplicity of a neutral that pairs perfectly with so many other colors but I am having a serious gray moment lately. Every time I am shopping I am drawn to this foggy hue and noticing that my closet is getting filled with shades of gray again and again. The above is just a small sample of my latest favorites. That necklace is seriously haunting me with it's beauty and might need to move in with me asap. What color are you coveting lately???

Pillow Talk - Part 2 - Room to Outfit

One of my favorite features on the blog is the room to outfit posts. Today I decided to create a look from the ahhhhmazing portfolio of Caitlin Wilson Interiors who I featured  my pillow crush on earlier today. I came across the photo below and knew I wanted this gorgeous dining room would make an incredible outfit and the color palette is perfection for this time of year. I am DYING over those floors & velvet chairs - swoon.
