Cash Or Credit

Good morning lovelies...excited to share today's cash or credit featuring some serious look a likes at half the cost of the designer labels. Now don't get me wrong. I love a good splurge and think a great handbag, coat or shoes can totally elevate any outfit but if you aren't sure about a trend why not test the waters with a lower priced item first? I for one have been loving the off the shoulder trend lately & was biting at the bit to share it in a look for less post. You can shop all the items below, enjoy!

Off to ACK

After we celebrate my friends amazing wedding this weekend we are off to Nantucket for a few weeks. I absolutely cannot wait to be out of the city and living a bit of an island life with my main squeeze. Packing always feels like a daunting task as I wish I could just bring my entire closet instead of planning outfits for the trip. But when it comes to summer getaways I find it easier to just pick a color palette like navy & white and go from there. Since Nantucket is the land of the preppy, I will be pretty much living in my favorite casual basics. While away I am not sure how the internet service will be at our little bungalow rental so my posts may not be everyday but I will be sharing some island enchantments on instagram so come say hi!

The White Bag

Spring has finally sprung here in Boston and I couldn't be happier about it. This past Saturday while my husband was out and about with his buddies I decided to take myself for a stroll around the city and do some window shopping (and maybe even a little actual shopping). One item in particular I kept noticing and was really loving was the white bag. Who knew that this simple little accessory could be so versatile and go with every single thing in your closet. I broke down my three favorite style bags and then options in different price points, the Burberry tote has me weak in the knees.

Cash Or Credit - Boot Edition

Since I started this cash or credit series, I have been pleasantly surprised that there is almost always a alternative option for a high fashion {and high cost} items. So while I admittedly have my weaknesses for some luxury items - specifically handbags, I am thrilled when I can get the look of a pricer piece without having to break the bank. A few days ago when I put together this little weekend wear, I quickly became obsessed with the booties in it. I pretty much stared at them everyday but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on spending $600 on shoes that I will likely destroy with Boston's temperamental weather. I then decided to hunt for a more affordable alternate option and was psyched when I saw the similar style below. Two other very popular styles that have been all over the blogosphere also had more affordable counterparts that ooze lots of good style.

Dressed Up T-Shirts

Happy New Year friends! Hope you all had a fabulous evening celebrating and aren't hurting too badly today (like I am)! I had a blast laying low with some great friends and family and welcomed the New Year with open arms. I am excited to see what is in store for me and my husband this upcoming year! I thought I would keep todays post short as I am nursing a hellacious hangover. For me wearing a comfy t-shirt and jeans usually means I am not leaving the house for the day or was not interested in putting together a more sophisticated ensemble. However these days, cheeky tee's are quite the trend and can be easily dressed up with a fabulous statement necklace & tailored blazer. A few of my favorites combinations are below. It's easy, stylish and perfect day or night and for throwing on and heading out the door for the weekend!

Weekend Wear - Casual Glamour

During the week I took my mother in law shopping for an early birthday present and couldn't resist picking up a little something for myself. These pants not only were on sale but I was able to purchase a size smaller then I have been wearing which is reason enough for the purchase in my book. They are not only incredibly flattering but also extremely comfortable and I imagine they will be on heavy rotation in my wardrobe all fall and winter. I love the thought of pairing the fitted pants with an oversized sweater and of course my beloved statement necklace. Which by the way will have it's own feature & giveaway coming up next week!

Meow

I dont know about you but when it comes to selecting a summer sandal I am always looking for a sensible heel height. Besides comfort being the obvious reason for this petite heel, city living is a close second. We walk everywhere in our historic neighborhood and this usually means that anything over three inches is a guaranteed face plant into some cobblestone. Because im a heels girl through and through, I am thrilled to see that this season the kitten heel has made a come back in a very stylish way.  I already picked up a few pairs for my closet {#5 & #8} and can happily report not only are they comfortable but it's just enough height to elongate the leg and not be wobbly walking around the city. So while I will always love a high heel, you will likely find me in some of the lovlies below this season.

a neon fiesta

Cindo de Mayo may have come and gone but that doesn't mean you still can't throw a colorful celebration for that special someone or for that upcoming special occasion  I personally am still smitten with the neon trend and especially love it in party decorations. The bright hues are instantly cheerful and uber festive, it just screams lets have some fun! Inspired by my for the love of etsy post I created a style board that is almost entirely available by fabulous etsy sellers. Check out all the neon goodness below and where you can purchase for your next fiesta!

Oh and just for fun, a little neon outfit inspiration too!

flat out

I always prefer heels to flats any day of the week but city living requires a sensible shoe that can easily get me from point A to B without falling on my face. While I absolutely loathe pairing the word sensible with the word shoe, I must surrender my feetsies to some more comfortable and practical shoes. My latest obsession is the cap toe flat. I recently purchased this pair & this pair and have become utterly obsessed with them. Their metallic toe tip instantly makes the shoe a little more glamorous, adds a little added style to my ensemble and instantly gives me a pep in my step.

Which is your favorite???

Clear Clutch Outfit Inspiration

I have been thinking about how I would style the lucite clutch featured on the blog earlier today and felt that it needed some lux items to accompany the simplicity of the bag. I love the look below for a date night or drinks out with the girls. Would you wear a clear clutch???

Color Crush - Gray

coat // necklace {DNS favorite} // shoes // sunglasses // ear muff's // clutch // sweater {have & love} // watch // skirt

I am not sure if it's the frigid winter days here in Boston or the simplicity of a neutral that pairs perfectly with so many other colors but I am having a serious gray moment lately. Every time I am shopping I am drawn to this foggy hue and noticing that my closet is getting filled with shades of gray again and again. The above is just a small sample of my latest favorites. That necklace is seriously haunting me with it's beauty and might need to move in with me asap. What color are you coveting lately???

style steals

Let's face it, most blogs out there feature all heavenly items that are just not realistically priced for the everyday gal or guy. I am guilty of it too. I mean who doesn't love a luxurious item to day dream about and treat yourself too every now and then but when it comes down to it, most items we all own and wear each day have to be wallet friendly. I compiled a list of some of my favorite styles that are all under $125 but don't look it one bit. Everything is summer themed to help add a little fun to your warmer weather wardrobe...enjoy!

like mother like daughter

Remember stores like Oilily where you they offered everything in adult size to match your toddler? I would cringe at the thought of matching your outfit with your kids. I then came across some adorable photos of mothers and daughters with coordinating looks that I thought were super stylish and simply sweet. Would you dress like your child or is this look too much???

Denim Tuxedo

My friends and I used to joke that whenever we saw someone wearing jeans with a jean shirt and jean jacket that they were in a "denim tuxedo". I loathed the look back then thinking it screamed country western and all things cowboys but  I have to admit I am warming up to the look as of late. The trick is all about picking the right shades of blue in your denim and pairing them accordingly. Just look at how well denim on denim can look & shop the looks below!
