The Classic Black Bag

When it comes to saving and splurging, I tend to spend more on bags and shoes versus everyday clothing. I have always felt an item that will get a good cost per wear could be justified versus an item that may be only worn for one season. So when I was recently asked some advice on purchasing a classic black bag, I was excited to put together a little round up at tiered price points. Not only does a great black back stand the test of time with it's simple style, it works for all the seasons and wears so well with age. My only criteria given for the search was that the purse be scaled to this persons proportions {think petite}, not too trendy and something that would work well with city living and travel. My round up includes everything from the top handle to the timeless tote, most even have a great strap for converting to the always convenient cross body.

Weekend Wear - House of Cards

Robin Wrights character on the show House of Cards is an impeccable dresser. Always elegant and simply dressed to perfection. Her effortlessly chic way of dressing was the inspiration for this weekends wear. A classic silhouette dress that is fitted but not revealing is perfectly paired with petite diamond studs, a great handbag and killer heels - it's sexiness in a very subtle way.

Cash Or Credit - The Essentials

In my opinion there are a few staple items that every woman should have in her closet to build a great wardrobe. The usual subjects like a fabulous little black dress, crisp white button down, fabulous fitting denim and ALWAYS something leopard are just a few that come to mind. While I have touched on this subject before, I thought I would revisit the subject in the cash or credit series. I personally think things that will get a lot of wear are worth the splurge and more trendier items are where you want to spend less. However on the other hand but you don't always want to spend a ton on basics that will get a lot of wear and will likely need replacing sooner then later because of it. So with that in mind I put together a few of my favorite wardrobe essentials and found a more affordable counterpart that doesn't sacrifice style or cash in your wallet!

The Classic Black Tote

When it comes to fall fashion the one item that I will consistently have on me is my favorite black tote. I always have felt that a great bag is a good investment especially in a dark color that wears well. Most recently I had the misfortune of learning the hard way that some high end designer bags doesn't always mean they provide the best quality. Which inspired me to find a plethora of fabulous designer bags in my favorite shade {and a little fabulous leopard embellishment too} at all different price points for toting around town! Which one is your favorite???

totes my style

I am utterly obsessed with handbags! This is definitely not news to most people who know me as my unhealthy addiction is often evident with the changing of my handbag for each ensemble. While living in the city usually means I am lugging around a cross body to keep my hands free for groceries or vino from the liquor store I would have to admit the tote is by far my all time favorite style. I adore the lady like shape, the adorable top handles and the boxy shape.  I am thinking of cashing in all my change jars {and the help of a  Saks gift card that is dying to be spent} to put towards that little Prada piece of heaven below. Which is your favorite???

Color Combo Crush - Grey & Gold

I couldn't be more excited about my first hired event that I am planning with a great gal for her wonderful birthday celebration. I was so thrilled that when we first discussed her overall vision that she was game for the gold and grey color combo that I was coveting. Since then I have been scouring sources for everything in this color palette I thought I would take my ideas a step further and show just how fabulous these two compliment one another, not only in a chic soiree {will share full post of event after it takes place} but also in your accessories, wardrobe and your home. Check out my picks for great pairings of the two shades - enjoy!

Denim Tuxedo

My friends and I used to joke that whenever we saw someone wearing jeans with a jean shirt and jean jacket that they were in a "denim tuxedo". I loathed the look back then thinking it screamed country western and all things cowboys but  I have to admit I am warming up to the look as of late. The trick is all about picking the right shades of blue in your denim and pairing them accordingly. Just look at how well denim on denim can look & shop the looks below!
