One Pieces

Swim season is upon us - well sorta...we had a hint of it then Mother Nature had a total tantrum and sent us back to the arctic. Regardless of her mood swings, I am sure the warmer temps will be gracing us with their presence once again and we will be on the hunt for a bathing suit that doesn't make us feel like we are a beached whale. Now I know one pieces aren't for everyone, but after this post earlier this week I had a few inquiries on some one pieces that are stylish, comfortable and flattering. No matter how great of shape you are in, putting on a swimsuit for the first time of the season can be quite daunting. Staring at your winter skin, memories of the pasta and wine we indulged in all winter long quickly comes back to you and slaps you in the face. The answer {besides the obvious diet & gym time} for me is to be prepared for bathing suit shopping. Go in the morning when you are your lightest, do your hair and makeup and if you can treat yourself to a spray tan {because a sun kissed bod always feels slimmer}. Little tricks like the above may take some planning but will always help you feel better when trying on your bathing suits!
Untitled #641

one - A classic black swimsuit is always in style and this one is especially chic with it's thin halter straps for extra support and embossed fabric to give some texture to the suit.

two - One of my favorite one piece purchases this year, so much so that I bought a few colors. I love the ruching around the mid section which flatters your curves and the straight across neckline keeps a bigger chest disguised. Also comes with removable straps and in D cup & longer torso sizes.

three - My other favorite one piece of the season but for different reasons. This lovely is available in patterns or solids but the underwire cup makes it a bit sexier and more revealing for those days you want to be a little more va va voom.

four - Pretty petals is youthful and fun and the little peek a boo reveals a little skin without being raunchy.

five - A sexy yet sport one piece for beach activities.

six - One pieces can glamorous with gold embellishments & straps.

seven - Plus size swimwear need not be boring. I love the hidden supportive bra and pattern on this one piece. The drawstring on the hip also allows you to control how much thigh you want to show.

eight - Another plus size piece that hugs your curves in all the right places.

The British Are Coming

Correction, the British are here and they are looking good! When I studied abroad for one glorious summer back in my college days I was completely blown away by the fashion forward styles of the people of the UK and specifically in London. To say I did a bit of shopping while there is quite the understatement. While that time of life is tucked away back in my memory the incredible style from British designers is oh so relevant. I am totally loving this round up all from across the pond.

a neon fiesta

Cindo de Mayo may have come and gone but that doesn't mean you still can't throw a colorful celebration for that special someone or for that upcoming special occasion  I personally am still smitten with the neon trend and especially love it in party decorations. The bright hues are instantly cheerful and uber festive, it just screams lets have some fun! Inspired by my for the love of etsy post I created a style board that is almost entirely available by fabulous etsy sellers. Check out all the neon goodness below and where you can purchase for your next fiesta!

Oh and just for fun, a little neon outfit inspiration too!

Bombshell

I was literally stopped in my tracks when I saw Kate Upton on the cover of Vogue this month. This American beauty first stood out to me when she graced the cover of Sports Illustrated and the fact that so many critics said she was a "heavier" then some other SI models of the past left me flabergasted. This clearly infuriated me as this was the furthest thing from the truth. What I saw was an all american bombshell who resembled another style icon of the past. Then Vogue got their pretty little hands on her and created a stunning photo-shoot with incredible fashion and the correct heading. While she wears some of my favorite designers in this issue like Matthew Williamson, Stella McCartney, Givenchy and so on. I thought I would create some looks inspired by the shoot to help recreate this fabulous style without going bankrupt.

The Little White Dress

We all have that little black dress in our closet that is our go to for last minutes events or when all other outfits are just a big fail. I dont know about you but I always feel great in a little black dress,  black is always flattering, easy to accessorize and in a hot second you can be ready to hit the town in style. However come warmer weather, the LBD takes the back seat to the little white dress. It's clean, crisp and the epitome of summer. It looks great with a heeled sandal or a thong sandal. I personally love pairing it with a great denim jacket for cooler days/nights. So while I am 100% against wearing white to someone else's wedding I do think this dress is perfection for almost any other occasion which leads to a few LWD's that can fit the bill day or night at all different price points.

color crush - navy

This past weekend I ventured away from my routine blah manicure of a pale pink or white and got a bold sapphire navy blue. I never wear dark colors on my nails but I have been on a serious navy kick lately and went for it. While my husband absolutely loathes it, I am glad I gave it a spin and think it's so fun to experiment with color in the form of polish. Since I have been staring at my paws typing all day at work I thought I would put together some of my favorite navy items that I have been coveting because afterall what is there not to love about this classic color. It looks great on everyone and compliments so many other colors brilliantly. The navy J.Crew tank below is the latest edition to my closet, cannot wait to pair it with some dark jeans and my gold metallic pumps on our vacation in Napa next week! Which is your favorite navy item???

the london look

Are you tired of my many blog posts today or what??? If so - stop reading now! I couldn't resist sharing one more tid bit of London fabulousness as those gorgeous hotels had me daydreaming of an champagne tea & strolling along the Thames with the hubs like we did in 2009. I created an entire look from British designers and now I am utterly obsessed with that McQueen handbag & Mulberry shoes! Ever since my short stint studying abroad while in college, I have always felt London was the most fashion forward city in the world (I think a pretty bold statement coming from a New Yorker). I just adore all their designers and from my searches in creating this ensemble below I truly believe they still carry the torch on that title!
