If we are friends on Instagram you probably have seen a bit of a green trend happening in my wardrobe. I can't stop gravitating to this earthy color and have been loving it as my neutral for the upcoming fall season. Not only does it look great with pale pink, dark pink, rusty hues and golds but I just feel like it works it looks great on all skin tones. I rounded up a few of my favorites, some I have purchased and some are on my never ending wish list. What color are you loving for fall? Oh & p.s. I updated the "shop" with all new fall favorites, check it out!
I sort of hate myself for thinking of fall fashion when the summer season is still so fun and full of life. I honestly haven't picked up a single thing for the autumn but that doesn't mean my wish list isn't growing by the day. When it comes to dressing for the cooler weather I alway like to build my wardrobe on quality basics. Things that work well with one another, share a common color palette and that will stand the test of trends. A few of my favorites finds for the fall are below. What are you wishing for your closet come October?

A great blazer will get some serious wear before the cold weather really hits. It's a clean cut and so perfectly preppy with it's popped collar and rich navy coloring {several other colors available}.
When it comes to shoes, I tend to splurge a bit. I love a quality flat as they get worn the most with city living. I absolutely love a stylish flat in a sassy leopard print for adding a little pattern to a basic outfit. A great looking black bootie is also a must have for me, I adore the pointy toe on this pair. Finally the scalloped edges on this pump have me weak in the knees. I just love the sweet simplicity style of these suede babies. They look great with dresses, skirts, denim and so much more.
Accessories are my favorite things to shop for. Whether it be a great hand bag{my absolute favorite thing to buy} or some pretty jewelry, I always like to keep it rather simple. A gold hoop is my go to most days and when I want something more I'll add in a statement earring. A great watch is a must and a clutch in a fun pattern or print is a great way to elevate an otherwise simple outfit. Finally a stylish scarf to wear around your neck or tied to your bag and definitely don't forget to add some classic aviators for those sunny yet cool days.
Happy Friday friends! I am so excited to be hosting family in town this weekend. We have been lucky to have had a bit more space during our stay in NYC allowing me to exercise my hosting skills. My real challenge in Manhattan has been dressing comfortably and yet maintaining style. You know wearing heels everyday isn't realistic in a city where you walk everywhere. I have been living in a very warm coat, stretchy skinny jeans, silk blouses and my favorite booties. So I created a little cash or credit featuring my weekday wardrobe for strolling around this amazing city. Have a great weekend everyone!
Whenever I need outfit inspiration I always like to go to my black & white board on inspiration. Something about this classic combo always feels fresh and modern no matter what season it is. With a lot of upcoming travel I also like choosing this color palette for efficient packing. It's great for pairing with every other color out there and when these two colors are combined into prints, I am not running away scared. A little round up of some black and white favorites are below, happy shopping!
Remember this post where I shared some gowns that I was contemplating for a black tie wedding we have coming up this summer??? Well they both arrived and were just a bit too matronly and chez boring on me. So I was back on the hunt for the perfect dress for my beautiful friends big day. I then came across this dress and I knew it was perfect for the formal garden occasion. Ding... Ding... Ding, I think we have a winner folks! So excited for this beauty to arrive...here's hoping it's just as fabulous in person as it is online!
Since I started this cash or credit series, I have been pleasantly surprised that there is almost always a alternative option for a high fashion {and high cost} items. So while I admittedly have my weaknesses for some luxury items - specifically handbags, I am thrilled when I can get the look of a pricer piece without having to break the bank. A few days ago when I put together this little weekend wear, I quickly became obsessed with the booties in it. I pretty much stared at them everyday but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on spending $600 on shoes that I will likely destroy with Boston's temperamental weather. I then decided to hunt for a more affordable alternate option and was psyched when I saw the similar style below. Two other very popular styles that have been all over the blogosphere also had more affordable counterparts that ooze lots of good style.
Just because the holidays are over doesn't mean that their isn't a reason to host a fabulous dinner party with the people whose company you enjoy the most. I love love love to entertain but don't always have the chance to host more then four people at a time in our home. I imagine when we have a bigger house with a dining area I will be calling on my friends for lots of stay in dinners filled with pretty details like this one featured on the wedding chicks. While I generally gravitate to anything gold, black and a pop of pink , I knew that as soon as I saw the image below I would use for a party to outfit feature! That adorable zebra paper popped up everywhere this holiday season and I love the idea of using decorative wrapping paper as decor on a table setting - genius!
I have been thinking about how I would style the lucite clutch featured on the blog earlier today and felt that it needed some lux items to accompany the simplicity of the bag. I love the look below for a date night or drinks out with the girls. Would you wear a clear clutch???
One of my favorite bits to write on the blog is the party to outfit posts which you can see here, here and even a guest post here. Celebrations and soirees are a constant inspiration for me not only for my own entertaining purposes but also for creating stylish ensembles. After-all a successful soiree starts off with a great color palette and is chock full of stylish details. When I saw this fabulous fete for a 40th birthday party I knew I could use it for a sassy holiday outfit. I was totally smitten with the festive yet feminine color combinations the organizers chose and all those delicious details were executed perfectly! I used this image to create a not so typical holiday outfit that is girly but not over the top as the leather elements help keep the frilly in check. I also included some style steals for each item to help save some cash - fist pump for the bank account!
Remember stores like Oilily where you they offered everything in adult size to match your toddler? I would cringe at the thought of matching your outfit with your kids. I then came across some adorable photos of mothers and daughters with coordinating looks that I thought were super stylish and simply sweet. Would you dress like your child or is this look too much???
