Color Crush - Black & White

I have a bit of an obsession with the color combination of black and white, whether it be in my home, my wardrobe or even my puppies, these two shades are always a favorite. My b&w pinterest board is always a constant go to for outfit inspiration and when I am unsure of what to wear I know I will always smartly dress in this classic combo. So I wanted to share a little round up of my favorite black & white items from accessories, home to clothing!

Whenever I need outfit inspiration I always like to go to my black & white board on inspiration. Something about this classic combo always feels fresh and modern no matter what season it is. With a lot of upcoming travel I also like choosing this color palette for efficient packing. It's great for pairing with every other color out there and when these two colors are combined into prints, I am not running away scared. Pretty In Plaid

Growing up the only plaid in my wardrobe was a J.Crew flannel shirt which I usually wore tied around my waist while I listened to Pearl Jam and fully embraced the oh so very unstylish grunge era. These days this heritage print is much more sophisticated and available in so many different styles that still stays true to it's classical roots. Whether you want to add a little something with a bit of an edge with a studded tartan printed clutch or give your bottom half a fashionable flashback a la Rachel Geller with a classic printed pant, there is something for everyone. A fashion trend that is on permanent repeat every fall/winter is the sweater dress. I cannot get enough of them. Each year the look gets a more amped up version that is spot on for today's looks. It all comes down to the details like a leather sleeve, a pleated skirt, the infamous nautical stripe or a belted skater skirt, I love it all! I adore the look with an exposed leg in before the weather becomes frigid and then pairing these lovelies with tights and pumps for a night on the town or riding boots for a chic day look. Which is your favorite???

Breaking the law... Breaking the law

I have been asked many times how to wear white into the fall and if its fashion road kill to break the white after labor day rules. I personally say - throw the rules out the door and incorporate white into your fall/winter wardrobes in every way you can. Last month I gave an example on how to wear the little white dress into the cooler months and today I am going to show you how to do the same with white denim - the key is layering! I would start with a button down shirt, a soft denim or chambray shirt is always a favorite of mine paired with white. I would then layer the hell out of it with a light v-neck sweater and a vest. The finishing touch would be to belt the vest with a skinny belt so you don't lose your figures shape under all those clothes. Everything stays un-tucked yet you still look neat. Swap your flips for flats and you are on your way for a great day outfit around town. How do you wear your favorite summer items into the new season???
