This year we are hosting our family for Thanksgiving in Boston. Since we are dining out I am torn about what to wear this year. Considering the holiday is one that is based around indulgence in delicious stuffing, mashed potatoes and pie. I would say it's safe to say key is comfort. While most of us would be thrilled to be in our loosest of clothing I put together three looks that will help hide your Thanksgiving food baby wether it be under a loose blouse, a comfortable sweater or a ruffled dress :).

Neutral Territory - Day & Night
As I prepare for our fifth wedding anniversary trip to the desert I am finding myself stocking up on everything neutral, {shocking I know}. I recently picked up this blouse to wear during the day with some sandals and skinny denim. Come our celebratory evening I thought a dress was in order. I love the idea of something that is loose fitting but can have a belt added so you don't look like your wearing a potato sack. All my other outfits will be casual coverups and bathing suits. I cannot wait to get the sun on my skin. Spring is definitely being skipped this year in Boston!

Cash Or Credit - City Uniform
Happy Friday friends! We are back in the big apple for a quick last minute work trip. When I pack last minute for anything I tend to grab my tried and true. Is there an easier outfit then a white top and black denim. Yes it can be considered basic but I rather look at it as a classic and full proof. So I thought I would take the opportunity to produce a cash or credit round up featuring my favorites.

Weekend Wear - Just Peachy
Come Spring is there anything better then just being able to throw on a blazer and head out the door? I personally love forgoing a coat whenever I can and I always feel incredibly put together in a sleek blazer. So tonight when I head to an event that my friend Lauren is hosting in Boston. I plan on pulling a look similar to the one below. Have a great weekend everyone!

Cash Or Credit - Wardrobe Essentials
Thanks to Santa, as a kid my Christmas morning stocking had a ton of subscriptions to fashion magazines. Till this day I love nothing more then lounging around with a good glossy to relax. I know forget which magazine did it but one of my favorite features was always the splurge versus steal on stylish looks for less money, because the more money I saved, the more clothes I was able to buy! I truly enjoy the challenge of creating my version of this series "cash or credit" as it really makes me hunt for the perfect item for less without sacrificing quality, brands or style. So while in my opinion some items that get a ton of use are totally worth splurging on {handbags & outwear}. Today I thought I would share a few favorite wardrobe essentials that are on heavy rotation in my closet like the classic trench, my favorite arrow necklace {seen here & here} and of course great denim and comfy flats for walking around town!

Weekend Wear - NYFW Inspired
As New York Fashion Week came to a close this past week, I am on serious sensory overload. So many amazing street styles were captured. I imagine that it wasn't easy to put together chic ensembles during this brutal polar vortex. I mean, most of them were probably frozen numb with the single digit temps. Had I attended I think I would have worn a little number like the outfit below. Lot's of texture, patterns and a bit of cheeky with that fab little clutch.

Desert Getaway
It's probably not a big surprise that my husband and I are a fan of the weekend getaway, almost all of our trips are a long weekend and that's just how we like it. A quick trip is good for a reboot during stressful times or a celebration for a special occasion. So when my husband surprised me with a trip to Arizona for my birthday next month I was first thrilled that my busy guy would be taking some time off from his demanding work schedule and second that we both would be checking something off of our bucket lists - seeing the Grand Canyon! Of course I instantly looked up the weather of our destination and started thinking of what I would need to pack. While I could easily be inspired by the colors of the incredible red rock of Sedona, I decided my desert attire would require a very neutral color palette and after looking through my closet, that included everything that is tan and white. Two looks I will definitely be packing are be below as I have a few of those items already. However some other stylish Southwest inspired attire is below. Would love to hear any travel tips for the area if you know them!

Weekend Wear - faux layers
Layering doesn't get much easier with this little look below. I love the peek a boo plaid hem under a cozy crew neck sweater. I of course will be pairing mine with some sparkle in the form of a statement necklace as I almost always do but what I really have my eye on are those ahhhhmazing little booties below. Will have to save my pennies for those lovelies. Have a great weekend everyone!

Weekend Wear - Cobalt & Black
I have long been a fan of Tibi and one of my favorite pieces is the cami below below. Every season their classic cami stays the same but the prints and materials it's made out of evolve with the trends, i.e. the leather version, chiffon or color-blocked satin. My personal taste usually means wearing this tank with a blazer and some skinny denim and what is better then adding some leather elements like that fab blazer below. I love the sleek look of black with the burst of the cobalt print to give the ensemble a little more pop. I think the pairing below is perfect for a date night or evening on the town with your gals. Get in my closet!

Thirsty Thursday - Coke Slurpee
When I was a kid one of my favorite summer time treats was a coke slurpee. I remember riding my bike to the local seven eleven with my friends to get one and thoroughly enjoying each and every sip. As we got older I remember spiking the frosty treat with a little vodka to bring to the beach and not being detected by the fun police who were always patrolling us sunbathers for drinking in public. What I didn't realize back then was the amount of calories I was consuming in each little delicious sip. That however doesn't stop me from enjoying it from time to time. Since seven elevens aren't all too common where we live I thought I would whip up a version for my husband and myself. I followed this recipe and was pleasantly surprised how it instantly brought me back all those wonderfully nostalgic memories of being a kid in the summer on Long Island and how fitting it seemed for today's cocktail, because honestly is there anything more americana then coca-cola???

Weekend Wear - Color Crush Coral
Every time I go shopping I gravitate to the cheery coral color. I dont know if it's my favorite because it works with my fair skin tone or just that it pairs so wonderfully with white but this color has been majorly on my radar. One piece specifically is the gauzy J.Crew blouse below. It looks fabulous with white shorts, or denim. I love accessorizing the bright hue with golds and tans which lead me to the beautiful sidekicks below. What color are you obsessing over this season???

Weekend Wear - My Go To Uniform
My usual weekend wear post is arriving a little early this week. Come Saturday I am craving an outfit that is casual and comfortable but also looks put together with ease. Nothing says that more to me then a striped top and jeans. Since Spring is finally present here on the East coast I decided to swap out the usual blue denim with some crisp white ankle length jeans along with a great lightweight cashmere sweater in a fabulous coral and navy color combination. Since the sweater has it's stripe on stripe pattern going on, I will forgo my usual statement necklace and pair this look with classic gold hoops. The classic trench is the perfect outwear rain or shine and really pulls the look together.
What do you find yourself wearing on repeat all weekend long???

Weekend Wear - Neutral Obsessed
This Spring I have been finding myself drawn time and time again to neutrals. Whether I am shopping for something to wear to out with friends or a date with my man, I always gravitate to tan and white. While this really isn't anything new as I am terrible about wearing color it seems that it's more evident in this particular color combination. I always feel more glamorous and polished in these two shades with jeans or even in more formal attire. I am obsessed and can't stop purchasing anything with these two together are together.

Weekend Wear - Spring Essentials
Inspired by yesterday's post on style icons, I thought I would build a little list of some great wardrobe essentials come warmer weather. It's safe to say every woman has a little black dress in their closet that is their go to for any last minute events but what about a little white dress? The little Tibi number below is timeless in its classic silhouette and appropriate hem length. It's perfectly paired with a simple "go with everything" necklace and neutral sandal. Striped tee's, white denim and a great trench go without saying but of course I had to include three that I love. A gauzy tunic with a little sparkle embellishment will always be a favorite of mine along with the a simple thong sandal along with a black one piece for swimwear, something that will never go out of style. Everyday walking flats an essential tote in a great grey color, aviators, red lipstick and a nice watch will perfectly accessorize any spring look effortlessly.

neon - two ways
I have to admit that I am only fan of the neon trend in small doses so an outfit doesn't scream "look at me - I glow in the dark - break out the blacklights!" While I usually adore a pop of color in a fab accessory this time around I thought I would try to find another way to incorporate the bright color into a look that didn't follow my usual fashion rules. When I spotted the shirt below I knew it fit the bill perfectly for todays look. I think of all the neon colors, the flashy yellow has to be my most favorite. I is perfectly paired with whites and greys which can be dressed up or dressed down as shown below.

Weekend Wear - Spring Nights
Since Spring has graced us with its sunny skies and warmer temperatures I thought I would create a look on how to wear black into the season without feeling too dark. While I have made it no secret that you will usually find me in head to toe black when I go out, come warm weather black feels so blah, especially when everyone else is breaking out the vibrant colors. So without taking the plunge of full on head to toe color, don't be so quick to pack away the black denim for next winter, incorporate it with a top that has color in a pretty pattern like that kaleidoscope below or even floral. I always like to add a blazer with any cami and that chambray beauty below is such a versatile piece that will go with everything all spring and summer. Lighten up your beauty products with some pretty natural hues like peachy beiges and you're good to go!

St. Patrick's Day Outfit Inspiration
St. Patrick's Day is a pretty big deal here in Boston. Back in my glory days this day meant waking early, carb loading {usually with a green bagel} and then heading to the South Boston Parade to drink our faces off with my college friends. Rarely did we ever make it to the parade but we always had a blast dressed as little leprechauns running around our beloved city. These days we don't celebrate like we used to {booooo to getting older} but if we did, I know I would kick up the green wardrobe a bit with something that would wear well long past the Irish holiday like that beautiful rugby striped sweater below and gorgeous Loeffler Randall flats {totally on my wish list}. Don't forget your cross-body bag to keep your hands free for your Guinness beer waving at the parade floats. Hope you all have a wonderful & safe holiday!

Day Dreaming - Ski Getaway
The temperature in Boston will be taking a significant drop into the single digits which usually makes me day dream about warm weather vacations. However as of late I keep thinking about how much I love to ski and haven't done so in almost 5 years! Its such a good workout without truly feeling like a work out and what is better then coming back from a day on the slopes to have cocktails in cozy clothes near warm fires??? While I don't foresee a trip to the mountains this winter, I am going to do my best to make sure its on the calendar for next year. Although the North East has some incredible skiing mountains and conditions, I have also heard it doesn't hold a candle to the snow in Aspen which has me dreaming of a lux ski getaway wearing the below and sleeping in the uber fabulous St. Regis Aspen.

pale is the new dark
When I first saw one of my favorite designers, Rebecca Taylor featuring a plethora of pale denim on the runway for Spring 2013 I wasn't sure how I felt about this eighties trend resurfacing. We all know darker denim on the bottom is more slimming then the faded colors and a bleached denim dress or vest is just all too punk rock circa 1985 for my taste. I however do love the look of a faded denim shirt & made that little J.Crew number below mine last year and pair it with everything from colored denim, to whites in the summer and blacks in the winter. It is definitely a staple in my wardrobe for many seasons to come.
What do you think of this trend??? Would you wear these sun-drenched styles???
