Spa Day In A Box

When it comes to gift giving, I always like to shop for others with things I personally like to use. So when it came time to put together a gift for a friend this holiday season that was going through a stressful time I knew I wanted to go for a relaxation theme and gift items that would allow a spa day at home. Delicious smelling products in a dreamy salt air scent, bath salts for sore body, an aromatic candle for ambience and some cozy pajamas to get comfy in post bath. I just adore gifting a themed gift box, whether it be happy hour in a box, a date night in or breakfast in bed...it's easy to put together something special for someone to indulge in at home.  Short on time?! Check out these gift box services who will wrap them up pretty for you herehere & here

Holiday Gift Guide - For The Ladies

When I started this blog five years ago my husband teased me that I was solely writing about things that I wanted, he called it my endless shopping wish list. While I told him that wasn't true since I often write about things I wish I was adventurous enough to wear or had the bod to pull off. However today I would be happy to admit that I would be pretty pleased if any of these gifts made their way down the chimney at my house this Christmas.

Untitled #827

These fun faux fur pom key chains will help make finding your keys at the bottom of your bag a lot more cute.

These earrings are a much more wallet friendly version of the famous les bon bons.

This little bag haunts me. I see it everywhere in every color but the red is fitting for the season.

A cozy plaid poncho for wrapping up in.

This adjustable length bracelet is a favorite of mine with it's ease to put on solo.

A pretty lace top in black or white would look beautiful on your gal for new years.

We love having Shinola here in Boston. This double wrap watch is one to want

These slightly distressed denim with the very on trend step hem is a must in a gal's wardrobe.  Found a great look a like with extended sizes here

A chic floppy hat in a neutral color goes with everything. More options here

Don't know what fragrance she loves, well this sampler set will definitely fit the bill. I can attest to the fact that they all smell incredible. I also love these little guys for travel

A classic silk dress that will never go out of style is a perfect gift to give with a promise of night out on the town.

This faux fur jacket looks like the real deal with zero guilt, it also has the yummiest sweatshirt liner that makes this coat extra comfy.

I was so happy to have finished my wrapping up earlier today and cannot wait to gift away all the presents to my family on Christmas Eve.  Since most of my gift guides have long been completed I thought I would add one more for those last minute shoppers that still need some great gift ideas for the ones they love. There are a slew of subscription gifts that are truly amazing & whats better then a gift that gives all year long?! So take a look at my favorite last minute subscription gifts that allow you to choose a monthly membership that suit all sorts of different interests.

For those that love all the pretty paper things, Olive Box is a great membership that gifts beautifully curated packages of paper products to enjoy well past the holiday season. Another similar option is Nicely Noted

For the kiddos where a gift every month would surely bring on a smile, means Kiwi Crate is a no brainer for the gift that keeps on giving.
For the friend with the sweet tooth a monthly gift of fresh baked cookies from Mayflour Confections will fit the bill. A perfect pairing for the caffeine cravers would be to add in some Craft Coffee

Holiday Gift Guide For The Kiddos

As my nieces get older we are buying less toys but I couldn't resist sharing a few favorites that are sure to make kiddos at all ages happy come Christmas morning...because let's face it, the holidays are meant for kids and nothing is better then seeing them rip through their packages at the speed of light.

Untitled #796

Parents all across the land will likely despise this box of instruments from the incessant noise but kids LOVE to bang things & make music so who are we to deprive them of that happiness?!

Babies can be a challenge since they aren't too much into toys so I picked out this adorable vegetable collection of rattles & monogrammed stroller blanket that are too cute for words.

Laughing is the best...so for the little comedian in your life this box of jokes provides materials for days!

Calling all Star Wars fans, these light sabers are fun for a sword fight & this bedding is just plane awesome.

Keep your kiddo warm with this adorable hat that makes them feel like a superhero & winter boots that happily coordinate.

Fitbit is big among my nieces, I love that they all can get a color that they love.

J.Crew has the absolute best kids pajamas. I wish they came in grown up size. Make the gift extra special with some sparkly slippers.

How adorable are these little dolls made from up cycled cashmere?!

The Magic Eight Ball was such a fun gift when I was a kid. I am not surprised that kids still love it. My littlest niece told me this was on her list to santa.

I die over this pizza slice bag. Its SO good!

My sister in law once that the best gift she could give her girls was the love of reading. These personalized puffin classics not only look great on a shelf but will also help start a great collection of books for your kids.

These hover boards make me so nervous but i have pretty much heard every kid I know ask for them. I would pair it with these matching pads & a helmet.

Good lord I loved having an indoor tent as a kid...mine were not this cool but I absolutely adore this one & love that it comes in a slew of beautiful colors.

Holiday Gift Guide - For The Host/Hostess

I know it feels way to early to be thinking about your holiday shopping lists but I couldn't resist sharing my first holiday gift guide with you all to help get prepped for all the festivities that are surely filling up your calendar for next month. We have been so fortunate in our new home to have hosted a few dinner parties and our guests have seriously spoiled us with the most generous gifts. So I wanted to kick off the gift guides with some inspiration for giving to the host/hostess that show know how to throw a party. Some are items I have personally received and loved and some are on my list to give to friends and family this holiday season.
Untitled #794

Clare V. is always a stop for me during my holiday shopping lists. Her clutches are seriously stylish so I naturally adored her market tote

Who doesn't love a sassy gift here or there. These naughty & nice glasses are adorable and hilarious. If you want to be a little more sophisticated there are a ton more to choose from.

Giving gifts to men always seems to be a challenge for me. I always thinking picking up their favorite six pack with a nice bottle opener fits the bill for the male host.

Who doesn't love to receive a good bottle of vino?! Make the gift a little extra special with a this wine tote, or these adorable wine brown bags

A throw may seem like an odd thing to gift for hostessing a party but I couldn't resist the adorable pom pom trim on this one

A special memory can be gifted in a beautiful geometric shaped frame

A soft scented candle and coordinating matches are always a solid go to gift.

We always see flasks for men that are super cute, but this one is perfect for ladies...I love how it looks like a bracelet and comes in fun colors.

Game night in is always a welcome gift for a family. Love these colorful cards & this artistic puzzle

I was gifted this salt cellar & fresh sea salt last year & it's so functional and pretty on our countertops.

A chic desk calendar to keep a stylish friend up to date.

Monogrammed gifts always let the receiver know you thought ahead, these shield style boards are so perfect for the entertaining at the holidays.

A chic paper weight let's your gift recipient know they are a good egg

A great gift for the gardener/cook who loves their own fresh herbs at an arms reach. Or flowers in this darling vase

This entire set of blue & gold ceramics is stunning but I am partial to the pedestal bowl filled with a holiday snack of course.

What kitchen or bathroom doesn't need a pretty soap/lotion duo?

all of the above and a few added extras can all be shopped below!

Gifting

I love giving gifts, searching for the perfect item, wrapping it up pretty and of course the act of giving all makes me so very happy. I was really inspired by this company's beautiful packaging and knew I wanted to put together a little basket for couple that has been so good to us. Sometimes it's fun to give a gift for no reason at all but to let someone know how much you appreciate them. I went with a theme of a "date night in" which included all the essentials for a relaxing night at home with your favorite person. Some items were picked up during our travels on Nantucket as well as some local Boston shops and online favorites. All the details to make one for yourself or a friend are below.

I decided that finding the perfect vessel to hold all the treats would be my starting point. I knew I wanted to do a basket and when I saw this market basket I quickly scooped it up not only for it's awesome color but ability to hold a lot with a sturdy handle. From there on out, I collected items that coordinated with the aqua color all while staying within the "date night in" theme. So super soft towels, a delicious smelling candle, gem shaped soaps, bubble bath and salts were all in order. I then used a piece of lace gift wrap  to line the basket as well as some filler to arrange all the items at different heights so you could see everything clearly. You can shop everything below. Happy Gifting!

Holiday Gift Guide - Beauty Gifts

Let's face it, we all need a little bit of help from beauty products in our life. I do not know a single woman who doesn't at least wear lip gloss {this one is my favorite combined with thisin "nude beach" as the base color} or use some sort of tinted moisturizer to help brighten their skin. Even men have become a significant market in the beauty industry with launches of new shaving products and skin care regimens. I personally can find myself playing for hours in Sephora and have a very long beauty wish list that I may have sent to Santa. So I pulled together a few of my favorites for gifting to your beauty obsessed people. Everything from getting the perfect beach wavy hair to a bright white smile {even something for the fellas} is in a little gift guide below. Happy Shopping!

A One Woman Party

When I stumbled across Packed Party on Instagram I knew this fun company would instantly be bookmarked to my favorites for gifting. What is it you ask? Well basically its a cute little package you buy online that filled with treats from incredible brands, clever and sassy notes and a slew of occasions {from birthdays to promotions to breakups} to send to your favorite gal pal. Each package is put together upon order so the exact contents are always changing which really makes this a fun way to surprise the recipient {and yourself}. I am personally loving the "Miss You Bitch" set {which I would send up to my bestie in Maine had I not already mailed her Christmas gift last week} along with the "Thanks A Million" to tell someone how grateful you are and the "You Don't Need Him Anyway" break up box for the friend who needs a little cheering up after a some heartache. I am so in love with this idea & can't wait to send one to someone I love {hopefully not for the breakup package}. Just take a look for yourself at all the cute contents of this cheerful company.

Holiday Gift Guide - Experience Gifts

Theres a new trend going around where you gift each other the gift of an experience. I know some of my cousins are doing it within their families and I am personally all about the idea of making  memories with the people you love the most. So I thought I would share a few ideas to help inspire the planning of a gift of doing.

Amp up date night with a private viewing in a luxury theater and dinner at one of NY's fancy restaurants. More fabulous finds here.

image via

Cloud 9 Living is a site that allows you to choose experience gifts by city. They literally have something for everyone & searching is easy by filtering out your recipient & their interests. Think foodie tours, flying lessons, cruises & so much more. Another great resource for similar items can be found here..
Chicago & NYC are so lucky to have this foodie heaven also known as Eataly. I love the idea of going to a culinary experience with a class or a dinner together where you have fun & maybe even learn something new. Also, if you want to pick up some treats to bring home...it's all under one roof. In Boston we love attending Formaggio Kitchen classes. Nationally, Sur La Table & William Sonoma offer similar options.

Confession, I love bowling. We played here on Valentines day this past year with a group of friends and over the summer again with my nieces but my favorite had to be luxury bowling the first night of my bachelorette at Foxwoods. Why not plan a night of bowling & make custom shirts with a funny team name for everyone to wear to take a great snap as a keepsake.

I love to travel by train. This train trip is still on my travel bucket list. Since going to Italy isn't something you can sort of plan spontaneously. An Amtrak observation car trip could be more realistic. The Coast Starlight linking California to Seattle looks especially intriguing with the floor to celling windows and incredible coastline views.

Spend the day learning the stunts from the big motion pictures.

Money not an object? Neiman Marcus is your one stop shop for fantasy gifts. Just expect to pay BIG.

Holiday Gift Guide - For The Pets

Yesterday as I finished packing up the car to head to NYC, I stepped in dog poop not once but TWICE and ruined a pair of my favorite flats. Which I dwelled on for my four hour drive to the big apple. As I called to tell my my mom the story, I instead I got my dad on the line who kept things in perspective by telling me "that's hilarious, wait till I tell Khloe & Kaiser". Which I turned into an opportunity to start brainstorming what I am getting those two loves of my life. So whether you are gifting your faithful companion or someone who has a beloved pet, there are tons of amazing presents to give to those furry friends of ours or those who are pet obsessed like moi.
Untitled #702

one - John & I had a pet fish together when we first started dating, it's home was definitely not as chic as this one, maybe we should give it a try again!
two - I may not be a cat fancier but this scratcher is super chic for $50!
three - Calling all hipster dogs...this bone zone hat will help keep those ears warm all winter long!
four - Make travel on the go with your pet a breeze in this cute carrier.
five - Dress up your furry baby with this cute bow tie over the collar.
six - Merry Woofmas to all & to all a good night!
seven - Mac & cheese in the form of a biscuit for pooches and how can you resist those tartan tins.
eight - Travel made easy with these foldable bowls.
nine - What pooch wouldn't want to call this little teepee tent his own for nap time.
ten - Toys are always appreciated by dogs of all ages and these plaid scotties are no exception.
eleven - A city essential for those people who actually curb their dogs, these little bag wallet's clasp onto the leash so you never forget them.
twelve - Your furry babies kibble will look far more appetizing in this adorable candy colored trio of bowls & canisters.
thirteen - I wish these little puffer jackets came in sizes big enough for bigger dogs, shouldn't they get to look stylish too?

Engaged

Morning lovelies...I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and soaked up some of that warm weather that finally graced us here in the Northeast. We are still in NY spending some time with our families. It has been a wonderful weekend celebrating forty five years of marriage for my parents as well as Mother's Day for my amazing mother. Then even more good news was spread amongst the family when my cousin Chris {you may remember them from this post} proposed to his lady. So as they start their new engagement journey I thought I would put together a fun little gift guide of ideas to gift the happy couple. Congratulations Chris & Lauryn - enjoy every second of this blissful time!

Untitled #634
one & two - The Newlywed's Cookbook is filled with modern recipes that will give you lots of inspiration for date nights in. It's perfectly paired with a chic Mr. & Mrs. cutting board.

three & four - Flowers are the standard protocol for gifting during this blissful time. How about you give some pretty stems in a stylish vase instead of the usual online floral arrangements.

five - A wedding planner is essential for the busy bride to be and everything Sugar Paper does is perfection so it's guaranteed to be useful & loved.

six - Every gift needs a pretty congratulatory note.

seven - A bottle of vino for every anniversary in a personalized wine crate is the gift that keeps on giving.

eight - After the wedding the happy couple will be off on their honeymoon. Send them off in style with "happily ever after" passport covers.

nine - Mr. & Mrs. glasses are fun for the couple who love the cheeky home decor.

ten & eleven - It's a time of celebrating and bubbly is always in order! A limited edition animal print bottle and a chic ice bucket make the perfect pair.

twelve - What bride wouldn't love subscriptions to some wedding magazines??? Martha Stewart Weddings is definitely a favorite along with Real Simple Weddings.

thirteen - A pretty place to store your sparkle.

fourteen - A gold rimmed tray in a modern shape is great for the couple that loves to entertain.

fifteen - Whether you live in the city or the burbs the romantic element of a picnic is always appreciated. This basket is fully loaded so you don't forget a single thing.

sixteen - I couldn't resist something that could be monogrammed with the couples new initials. This trio of silver cups are great for holding a variety of items like flowers, desk items or your toiletries in the bathroom.

Gift Guide - Mother's Day

Mom's are the best! Even in my mid thirties I still talk to my mom daily on the phone, look forward to days when just her and I get to go shopping and when I visit home I rely on her for pretty much everything. It's no doubt the hardest job in the world and one you never get to retire from. So why not gift your mom with something super special to let her know just how much she means to you. A few of my ideas are below!

Untitled #625

Perfume has always been a easy go to for moms for practically every single holiday out there. Amp up your fragrance gift giving with this chic refillable Hermes Lock Spray. Tory Burch anything is pretty much a safe bet for your favorite mom. I am especially loving this floral print iPhone case {could be perfectly paired with an iPhone upgrade}. Pearls never go out of style and this pair  {also available in silver} that both me and my mom already own are a classic favorite that goes with everything. A trio of natural frames to display some family photos or homemade art is perfect for the mom who loves to take snaps of the kiddos. A pretty place for chef mama to store all her secret recipes. A sampler of mini macrons for indulging - perhaps with a glass of wine, flowers and a bubbly bath set already set up for her. These cookbooks are a perfect combination of stylish design and function for the mom who loves to flex her cooking muscles. Cozy throws are a big deal in our home. We all have our own when we want to get comfy on the couch. No gift is complete with a handwritten card to tell your moms about how much you love her. Moms always have lots to carry, bottles, treats, diapers, activities and so on. A good looking bag set to help keep her organized without sacrificing style is always a clear winner. Gifting jewelry doesn't always mean you need to spend a small fortune. This statement necklace has a rich look without the high price tag {especially that is 30% off today}. Moms do a lot of running around so flats are totally needed, a little leopard pair shows your mama's sassy side. I'm pretty sure any women mom or not would love a back up charge for their iPhone, especially when it's this cute. Pretty pajamas for her beauty sleep are essential. For the ladies who love to entertain, this beautiful marble platter with silver trim is gorgeous for displaying tasty snacks and such. A subscription to a magazine that celebrates "the art of being a woman" is empowering and fun for flipping through before bedtime.

Happy Shopping!
