Valentines Day Gift Guide - For The Ladies

Valentines Day is right around the corner and while some may mark this day as cheesy or a "hallmark holiday", I say to each their own. I personally like a day that celebrates love and plan on spending it locally with my main squeeze and some friends with brunch at our favorite restaurant. Whether it be showing some love to a family member or kiddo with a sweet treat, something for your bestie or even something for your pup...Valentines day doesn't have to be all ooey-gooey. It's just a day to show the people who you care about that they are important to you. So whether the gift be a simple sweet note in a cute card, some beautiful flowers or an item that fits their interests {see below}, I put together a little round up of some gift giving inspiration {in all different price points of course} in my favorite blush hue that certainly beats any drugstore teddy bear!

Flat Out

I gotta be honest, I love me some heels and always prefer how they look compared to anything else but unless I am going out on a date with my man, a girls night out in the city or some sort of social event you will always find me in flats. While I have already shared some of my favorite ways to break in some new shoes, I wanted to tell you about my new favorite product Compeed that has saved my heels & toes when wearing some new flats this fall. This magical second skin adheres to your heels preventing blisters to ever happen. They are a total lifesaver with new shoes, pick up a pair & try them...your feet will be eternally grateful.
{p.s., this is not a paid product ad, I just am completely obsessed with this product}

Flat Out

While it may not yet feel like spring here in Boston the calendar says otherwise, which means I am retiring all my boots {possibly even burning my snow ones}. I literally have exhausted the boots and sweater look this winter and refuse to wear them again.  I am determined to challenge mother nature and walk out the door in Spring fashions even if it means I am freezing. My first spring style adjustment is the change of footwear. I am all about flats for walking comfortably around the city and have my eyes on a few pairs below to help amp up my wardrobe as the snow melts. Hurry up Spring, we need you BAD in this city!

Fancy Feet

Summer may be coming to an end but that doesn't mean we have to transport our little tootsies right from sandals to boots! I personally love transitioning back into flats come fall, especially when flats are getting some serious style like the little lovelies below. Living in a city means a lot of walking and it's very important to me to not sacrifice style for comfort. While I do dread the initial breaking in of the shoes, I have learned a few tricks to avoid the oh so painful back of the heel blister. One - break in the shoes with some socks around the house, the thicker the sock the better. Yes you may look like a crazy person but it stretches them out just enough to be comfy when you hit the streets. Two - Wear advanced healing band aids before the blister, protecting the back of your foot with these cushy band aids will help soften the rubbing on the back of the heal. Three - Add a sticky gel cushion to the back of your shoe so the soft material touches your foot instead of the stiff leather.  Four - Some department stores offer complimentary stretching of the shoe with purchase. Neiman Marcus has done for me in the past & it was awesome & if not a local cobbler can likely do for you too. Finally, Five - Apply subtle heat with a blowdryer to the part of the shoe that is tight and when warm flex the fabric around by hand to loosen the trouble spots, be careful on synthetic materials. Enjoy your happy and fancy feet!

Color Crush - Burgundy

Morning friends! Did you all see my guest post over on Preppy Love yesterday? I was having a major moment with gold and neon pink. Today I am focusing more on autumnal hues like burgundy. This moody color is very much on my radar when it comes to fall shopping. My color crush all started when I spotted those rock studs below...yes I know, every single blogger and their mother owns these shoes and I have never really lusted after them for that reason, but something about them in this bordeaux patent color has me seriously weak in the knees. I have been dreaming up some other wine colored treats that would pair oh so nicely with them.

Bows For Your Toes

Morning lovelies...quick post today as we got in very late from our Arizona travels. I have a bit of an obsession with bows, especially when it comes to footwear. My favorite flats are adorned in sparkly bows and always my first choice for comfort and style but I am admiring this little feminine embellishment on everything from pumps to flip flops. A round of up a few that I am coveting are below. How flipping awesome are those Valentino thong sandals, I think they need to be mine STAT!

Leopard Accessories

Leopard by far has go to be my favorite print ever. It might be my entire wardrobe consisting of all black clothing or the fact that a pair of leopard pumps I was wearing at work back in 2008 is what caught my now husbands attention at the office. Regardless of the reason, it's safe to say I am pretty obsessed with this animal print. While I haven't yet added a leopard clutch to my collection, any of the beauties below would most definitely be welcome. For now my new favorite leopard pumps will have to be my go to for a little added feisty flavor to my outfit.

hey there stud

If you were a child of the 80's like moi you likely remember the bedazzler and wanting to embellish the hell out of everything in your closet. Thankfully my mother never let me get that thing, what a nightmare my zcavarrici's would have been with sparkle pockets!  While the rhinestone craze is still evident in some styles, the hot new trend is the stud embellishment. I first loved this look when I saw the studded bottom tote by Alexander Wang. Since then the spikey stud has pretty much adorned everything from accessories to wardrobe to decor for your home. This edgey embellishment has grown up into a much chic-er version and no longer has that punk vibe looming over it's head. Take a look at a few of my favorites below!

gowns galore

Award season is here which means most woman will be tuning in Sunday nights to watch the red carpet coverage so we can all ooh and ahhh over all the fabulous gowns the stars are wearing. I always wanted to host a party where my friends and I would get all dressed up in best duds and watch the Oscars. Because let's face it real life doesn't have many places where you can wear a ball gown. Maybe that is why most brides never want to take off their gowns on the big day - when do most normal people get a chance to be in such a pretty dress again??? Below are some beautiful dresses that would be perfect for any award show anyone has to go too. Only problemo is the price tag - these beauties don't come cheap! Part 2 will have some fun ideas on how to throw a chic award party in your home!
