Dressed Up T-Shirts

Happy New Year friends! Hope you all had a fabulous evening celebrating and aren't hurting too badly today (like I am)! I had a blast laying low with some great friends and family and welcomed the New Year with open arms. I am excited to see what is in store for me and my husband this upcoming year! I thought I would keep todays post short as I am nursing a hellacious hangover. For me wearing a comfy t-shirt and jeans usually means I am not leaving the house for the day or was not interested in putting together a more sophisticated ensemble. However these days, cheeky tee's are quite the trend and can be easily dressed up with a fabulous statement necklace & tailored blazer. A few of my favorites combinations are below. It's easy, stylish and perfect day or night and for throwing on and heading out the door for the weekend!

Weekend Wear - Black Tie

It's rare to have a black tie occasion around the holiday season but in case you do below is a look that is super chic and the best part is most the items are on sale!

Faux - Real

One of my favorite winter trends hands down has to be faux fur. Gone are the days where the synthetic material looked like the a tattered mess. These days you can get the luxe look of fur without the price tag and or the sacrifice of animals. Faux fur translates so well from a dressed up look like the dress coat below or as a liner on the more casual vest also below. Personally, my faux fur vest has been on heavy rotation this season and I am hoping santa brings me some faux fur lined boots to keep my footsies warm during Boston's cold winters.

Winter Accessories

As Boston is about to welcome it's first snow fall I have come to realize how unprepared I am for the winter elements. I have no idea where my snow boots and pretty sure I threw away all my tattered gloves at the end of last season. This leaves me in a bit of a pickle as I have nothing to keep warm while roaming our lovely little city. While I was on the hunt to rectify this little hiccup I found some seriously adorable sets of gloves, scarves and hats that will help keep you roasty toasty all winter long. Below is a little round up of a few of my favorites. I know which ones I will be asking Santa for, but would love to know which is your favorite???

Holiday Gift Guide - For The Little Ladies

Being an Aunt to four fabulous little ladies this gift round up was pretty much a cake walk for me. However it also made me realize that if I bought those girls everything I wanted to, I might go broke. I decided to break up the gift guides for the kids by gender and include items that vary in age so there is a little something for everyone ranging from newborn to toddlers to tweens. Happy Gift Giving!
Untitled #551

one -  I am pretty sure there isn't a single kid out there who wouldn't love a little sugary treat under the Christmas tree. This drum filled with sweets is sure to be a hit.

two - we all know the many mama's out there need a dose of caffeine to get through the day, why not give your little one a sippy cup to look like yours. I mean it doesn't get much cuter then this.

three - Every little girl deserves something sparkly & this tote fits the bill perfectly!

four - A cute quilted barn coat for keeping warm is always in style. {30% off with code "Holiday"}

five - faux tattoos for kids is like the bomb.com and no one does it better then Tattly.

six - cooking with kids just got a whole lot more fun when they have all their own tools & apron.

seven - YBike by far makes the coolest looking bikes and scooters. I especially love the neon details on this adorable scooter.

eight - adorable southwestern print knit set to keep warm during these frigid days.

nine - got a crafty kid? how about a quality jewelry DIY kit that they will love & actually wear!

ten - a few weeks ago I treated my two oldest nieces to a little shopping spree, they totally surprised me by spending most of my money in the local bookstore, this set of classics are definitely a luxury gift for the avid reader.

eleven - a great gift for a newborn or new mama, a chic basket filled with goodies for the new bundle of joy.

twelve - quite possibly the best advertisement I have ever seen promoting young girls to break the princess cliche and enjoy a game that encourage thinking, science & engineering.

thirteen - kids love a story before bed so naturally a book with coordinating pajamas is a double win.

fourteen -  a favorite color combo of my girls, pink & orange striped sweater with a built in sparkle neckline is super cute {also extra 40% off right now}

fifteen - calling all mini fashionistas, the ultimate coloring book from top designers lets them create their own stylish masterpieces.

Weekend Wear - Holiday Attire

Come December the holiday festivities are in full swing. This means work parties, friend gatherings and your typical celebrations that only come this time of year. So what to wear to them? I thought from here on out I would do weekend wears all themed to the seasons attire. First up I love the ensemble below with all the different textures in it. Soft velvets, silky satins and matte suede all create a luxe look for a holiday party that doesn't require cocktail attire.

Weekend Wear - The Real Deal

I always enjoy putting together the weekend wear posts. They not only serve a purpose for my own inspiration with clothing I already have in my closet but they allow me to find items that I am coveting at great prices like that coat below. I have been craving a parka for New England's chilly winters but have yet to pull the trigger on purchasing one. Today's post just might motivate me to do so. While I love sharing outfits that boast beautiful high heels or feminine details like lace, what you will usually find me in is my favorite denim with a silk blouse and my favorite comfy flats.  I always opt for a cross-body bag for strolling around the city to keep my hands free and some simple jewelry, including the little diamond studs I have had since I was sixteen. So I thought I would keep it real and share an outfit inspired by my real weekend wear would look like.

Thank you for reading & have a great weekend!

I heart it

I don't know about you but I am seeing hearts wherever I go! I first was smitten with this print when I saw this shirt in classic black and white color scheme then again in this adorable dress. I quickly took note to research some other similar styles and I was instantly doused in heart heaven. I originally thought the pattern may be a little too "young" for my personal taste but I was way off. I really loved the scale of the hearts and it's scattered pattern making it less loud. What do you think of this trend???

A BIG thank you to everyone who took the time to take my survey, the data collected was super helpful and I hope to make some changes here that everyone will hopefully enjoy!

Meet Me In The Middle

Earlier this summer I jumped on board with the midi trend when I purchased this dress. The starburst printed dress quickly became a favorite of mine to throw on for casual and for dressier occasions as the length allowed me to wear a casual thong sandal or my beloved kitten heel version. This in between length is elegant and easy breezy to wear, a double win in my book. Unlike it's not too distant relative the maxi dress, your hem will not drag along the streets or cause you to trip as you walk around town {like I have done so many many times}. Since I am so completely smitten with this new to me length I purchased another midi length dress and thought I would share some other stylish finds in this lady like length so you can give it a try in your wardrobe!

Sales Galore!

Happy Friday friends...I am so sad to be wrapping up the most amazing vacation. I am also literally in the worst place to ever write a blog. The wireless internet is so temperamental and anything I do on my phone uses three times the battery life which means by the time I have something worth sharing my phone is dead, so needless to say, todays post is a short one. What is working is my inbox and it is chock full of sales from some of my favorite stores. It seems now is the perfect time to build your summer wardrobe without breaking the bank. Afterall today is ofically the first day of summer!

Other great sales are at Bloomingdales & Anthropologie I would be sure to pick up this summery tunic, easy day dress & adorable apron for cooking in style. I recently picked up this flowy tank and easy breezy beach dress. What summer items are you adding to your wardrobe???

Have a great weekend & Happy Shopping!!!

Flamingo Fever

I don't know about you but I keep seeing flamingos everywhere I turn! It seems to be the animal of the year to display in everything from art to home-goods and even fashion. Could it be succeeding the beloved zebra that everyone and their mother has coveted??? Perhaps the Man Repeller started a trend last year when she personified a plastic lawn ornament flamingo she later named Peter Gabriel??? While I always associated the flamingo with outdated 1980 Floridian style it looks as though this creature is making a come back but this time around it's designed in a much more chic way. Regardless of it's origins, the peachy hued bird is here to stay, for at least this season that is. What do you think of the flamingo styles???

These faux fur slippers are ridiculously cute. Perfect to keep the nuggets piggies warm.

Someone once told me the best gift they could give their child was to love to read. As a young reader The Box Car Children Books were my absolute favorite.

Quite possibly the coolest crossbody bag for a tween and up.

Have your child exercise their creativity with this design your own tote kit. 10% of the proceeds goes to pediatric cancer research, so its win win!

Appropriately sized binoculars for the little explorer.

A mustache binky, a necessity for every little baby boy.

Cuts & scrapes are zero fun, but these printed band aids will help make their boo boo all better.

Adorable anchor pajamas in my opinion work for either gender.

No more fear of the dark with this sweet turtle night light.

Dinner is fun again with these playful placemats. Twenty Five different punch out designs to play with after your dinner of course :)

Everyone has always loved the famous radio flyer wagons so why not give their version of a grow with you bike for the little one learning to ride two wheels.

These days we have endless mediums of inspiration for our fashion styling. say it with your shirt

When I first saw this look on the uber chic blog Atlantic- Pacific. I totally was smitten with the cheeky phrase and the super casual way to wear it. Lately I have seen so many stylish ways to use a favorite quote, saying or  motto that means something to you. It can be used in a wedding, decor in your home or with fashion. I chose a few of my favorites below to help you recreate this effortlessly chic ensemble for a stylish day around town. I even included a little something for your pup to sport.

Color Crush - British Racing Green

I remember growing up with what we called "hunter green" was quite possibly the coolest color on the planet. I was confident that every car looked better in this color and that every sweater in my closet be from my beloved J.Crew and in this rich emerald color. So you can imagine how thrilled I am that this color is making a big comeback this fall season from everything from your wardrobe to jewelry to your nails. It even looks ahhhmazing in the the home.  I loved it way back when and I am completely smitten this second time around! I will definitely be adding some of this piney green items in my closet this autumn, will you???

room to outfit

I have written many times about my complete admiration for anything animal print. I love being inspired by home decor and incorporating the overall look into your wardrobe, especially when it features a feisty tigress pattern. When I saw this photo on Coco & Kelley post on the "color of the moment fuchsia" I immediately saved it to hopefully use one day in a home of my own, then I saw the price tag of that chair and was on the hunt for a more affordable version that was still equally fabulous style which I found here {sans the leopard}. I adore that bright magenta dresser with the brass hardware giving it a a very glamorous polished look. I think it is perfectly paired with the gold trim leopard chair and warm colored floral artwork. I would use this in an office for storage and admire it's colorful existence every day. However since city living doesn't provide much square footage to allow a full on office space I will continue blogging on my lap top from my couch and put this beautiful image to good use in an outfit!

pretty peplums

The peplum trend looks to be sticking around for another season and I couldn't be any happier. I mean who doesn't love a top that cinches at your waist and flows softly down your sides. It's quite flattering on almost all body types and exudes a lady like style that is often forgotten in today's fashions. I picked a few of my favorite peplum styles to share with you all and some tips on how to wear it.  I love pairing these tops with a cropped or "ring master"  style blazer like this one.  Having the hem of your peplum top hang out the bottom of a blazer over skinny jeans in my opinion is tres chic. I also love pairing these types of tops with pencil skirts to recreate a retro yet glamorous look. Accessorize the crew neckline tops with a statement necklace and voila you have a chic polished outfit. Check out my picks and shop your favorite style with the links below. A few of these tops have the prettiest details on the back of the blouse that really will make heads turn so be sure to check each of them out!

Color Crush - Coral

Lately I have become utterly obsessed with the color coral in all it's forms. Whether you are displaying this color in your home with a nod to nautical like the rope pouf below or wearing it on your nails in a gorgeous summery coral {I got Cajun Shrimp on my nails last night & love}, this color is beautiful head to hem. Orange has always been a favorite hue but combining it with a dash of pink and boom you have the most gorgeous coral color. It is definitely my go to for a fresher more amped up version of the color orange for warmer weather. Just look how gorgeous this color looks in the images below....plus some stylish coral buys for your wardrobe & home.

Easter Dress

I believe us ladies are never too old to deserve a new dress for Easter. I always love having a reason to get dolled up and what better occasion then a holiday that in my house was solely celebrated around getting the family together to eat and drink. I know my four adorable nieces will be decked out in the cutest of dresses so why shouldn't their Aunt Heidi not join in on the fun! I purchased the below floral dress a while back and have been hoping to have an opportunity to wear it somewhere - I think it screams Easter with it's bold colors and print. What are you wearing this Easter???
