Wrap It Up

I saw the saying above on one of my favorite bloggers instagram and thought it was so honest & hilarious. I am definitely guilty of wearing the same outfit a few times especially those that I feel good in. I am so incredibly picky when it comes to my clothing that when I find something I love, I usually buy it in two colors. This was definitely the case with this wrap top I have been living in all winter long. I loved it so much I also gifted it to my sister at Christmas. I have always been drawn to wrap tops, I find them flattering around the torso and just a bit more interesting then a basic silk blouse. I also keep seeing that the "new" styling trick on how to wear a basic button down blouse as a faux wrap by crossing over the sides and buttoning them at the cleavage & tucking them in to hold in place like Sienna Miller did below.

Let's Be Fair

Like plaid, fair isle prints seem to be strictly designated as winter patterns. This knitted technique used always remind me of sweaters that my nannie used to make for us as kids, usually with leaping reindeers and snowflakes. However these days the colorful print has gotten a much more chic makeover. J.Crew offered a serious amount of fair isle sweaters this holiday season making me crave a little throwback style to be added to my closet for the long winter ahead. I am personally coveting this particular scarf with a little added sparkle & fur and this cardigan for cozy nights in with my love. Just in case santa is reading and needs some gift ideas :)

Cash or Credit - Black & Tan

I don't know about you but black and tan must be one of my all time favorite color combinations. Not only is it found in my favorite pattern but it's perfect year round. Especially come fall when I crave some my clothing items to be a bit more neutral and in warmer hues. I started this little series "cash or credit" to show that great style doesn't always have to mean spending more money. I was a serious fool in my twenties with shopping and since then have cut up and closed every single credit card I have ever had. My new shopping motto is if I can't pay cash, I can't get it. So I hope you enjoy the title as a way of determining what is worth splurging on and where to save. I 100% do not promote using a credit card :)

now & later

I never want to wish away the summer. It is most definitely my favorite time of year! However since August showed up in a hot second and all the fall fashions are hitting the shelves I thought I would try to demonstrate on how you can incorporate a summer dress into your fall wardrobe. I chose a white lace skater dress as the base of the outfit. It not only screams summer because of its color but also something no one would likely purchase for their fall wardrobe. In the warmer months I paired it with a lot of navy, my favorite color combination keeping the look casual and relaxed for a perfect summery day to night look. While most people tend to wear a lot of brown colors in their fall wardrobe, I decided to go with black and give this girly lace dress a rocker edge by adding a studded belt, black opaque tights and a very cool waterfall suede jacket that will most definitely get some serious mileage in your wardrobe {perfect for jeans & LBD's}. I love adding tights to summer dresses to give them a second life in a different season and changing out a great belt can give your overall look an entirely new vibe. What do you think, would you wear these looks???

room to outfit

Bathroom for outfit inspiration - not possible, right? Well I couldn't resist the challenge and after seeing those Missoni inspired floors I knew exactly what I wanted to do with this glamorous room. Every little detail in this lux bathroom is complete decadence. Designed by Kirsten Kelli who I used in the Seaside Chic post created the below bathroom with the cavernous ceilings and gilded hardware. I don't think anything this fancy will ever be in a home I own but I sure would like to live in this picture for a bit to imagine just how lovely a glass of wine and a bath in that carrera marble tub would be.

The Room

I could have easily interpreted the above image into a full on glam slam look. I however wanted to challenge myself and take this chic bathroom and turn into something equally fabulous but more everyday!

color crush - yellow

A color I find very hard to wear being blond and fair skinned is of course the hot new color of the season - so what is a girl to do!?! I did try going brunette once and that went horribly wrong so that is definitely out. Perhaps I should invest in a tanning package and have a nice healthy glow every time I want to wear this color (doesn't everyone feel better with a little tan)? I guess I just always thought yellow looked better on darker skin tones and darker hair. Since this some of this seasons yellows have a bit of green undertones to go with the neon trend, I think it might be easier to wear without looking like big bird but I do adore the gold mustard tones as well. What do you think - can blonde's pull this color off or should we leave it to the brunettes? Is yellow the new neutral?

Not ready for a full on yellow ensemble? Part Two later today will have some pretty images for adding yellow into your home!
