Style & Real Estate - Laguna Beach

The super brutal winter here in Boston has left me feeling sour towards our little city. We often joke our dream life would include living on Nantucket in the summer, Boston in the autumn/spring and somewhere warm for the winter. Our brief getaway to St. Barth's has me majorly craving long summer days, the feeling of the sun on my skin, the ability to leave the house without layers and trading in my snow boots for flip flops. I feel it's safe to say that after the holidays and the first snow fall winter loses it's luster. So while that dreamy habitation of a new city for each season may not be realistic we have seriously considered renting a home somewhere new and warm for a year before we have any real commitments to home ownership, pet's or a family of our own. I have searched every warm weather climate I could think from the east coast to the desert southwest and finally California where I stumbled upon this amazing little black and white cottage that has me quickly reaching for the suntan lotion and packing my bags with summer clothes. I seriously can't believe how adorable this rental is and being steps from the beach is really just a luxury I would donate an organ for. It's so hard to find rentals that have stylish furnishings and finishes. This bungalow has it all and much much more. Take a look at all the gorgeous photos and shop some home items at the bottom to get this modern beach look for yourself.

Club W

I don't belong to many monthly subscription services but when I read that Club W ships wine to my door I knew this was definitely a company I could get behind. What is different about this company is they offer limited time small batch wineries you may not otherwise know of or have the opportunity to taste. They are all priced extremely well and you can take a break any time by adjusting your preferences. I personally love that they come with little information cards letting you know what they pair well with, a description of the flavor and some general tidbits about the winery it came from. You can join here to get a little signing bonus off your first order or visit the site to check things out. If you visit their blog "the juice" you will get tons of information about what's going on in the wine world, delicious recipes and more. I just got my first delivery of the beautiful bottles and can't wait to try them all. I definitely will be gifting this service for my wine loving friends and family. Some of the available wines right now are below.

Away We Go!

image via Splendia

Boston's brutal winter weather has officially ticked me off and made me wonder why we choose to pay so much money to live in a place that is graced with the shortest summer season. I always feel my best when the sun is out and the days are long. We accomplish more in our day, we eat better, are more active and generally just in a better mood when it's warm and sunny. So to reboot our souls we are off to a warmer climate to indulge in some relaxed island living. I am so excited to return to the emerald island of St. Barth where we celebrated our honeymoon almost four years ago. It will be a fabulous place to turn another year older and spend some quality time with my favorite person. I will be signing off from the blogosphere till the middle of next week but feel free to come say hi over on instagram. I will be sure to share some vacation snaps where you are free to give me a hard time for being in paradise ; ) Shop some of beach gear below that I have packed away for lounging in the sun.

The Classic Black Bag

When it comes to saving and splurging, I tend to spend more on bags and shoes versus everyday clothing. I have always felt an item that will get a good cost per wear could be justified versus an item that may be only worn for one season. So when I was recently asked some advice on purchasing a classic black bag, I was excited to put together a little round up at tiered price points. Not only does a great black back stand the test of time with it's simple style, it works for all the seasons and wears so well with age. My only criteria given for the search was that the purse be scaled to this persons proportions {think petite}, not too trendy and something that would work well with city living and travel. My round up includes everything from the top handle to the timeless tote, most even have a great strap for converting to the always convenient cross body.

Stickers

During our brief three months in NYC I often found myself wandering up Madison Avenue to window shop all the luxury retailers beautiful displays. One that always stood out to me was that of  Anya Hindmarch with her gorgeous and colorful bags. The simple design with the petite bow hardware is what initially caught my eye but when I popped into the boutique I was quickly captivated by the playful stickers created for the Spring/Resort 2015 collection. While I usually don't opt for trendy pieces {especially in a handbag} part of me was smitten with the ability to personalize your purse with these cheeky designs. However, buyer beware, once your sticker is placed on the leather, it's permanent so you better love what you choose!

I put together some of my favorite items from the collection and a playful spin on how I would decorate the bags with the stickers available.
