Put A Ring On It

At our wedding I purchased a very petite sea urchin that doubled as a ring dish to hold my "something blue". Since our big day it has been used to hold my husbands wedding band when he walks in the door. To be honest, I very rarely take off my jewelry at night. I am an absolutely crazy person and think that if there is ever a fire in the building I want my favorite and sentimental things already on me. Whether it be the earrings I got from my dad when I was sixteen {and still wear everyday} or my engagement ring I am very rarely without them. However despite my crazy, I can't help adoring little dishes to hold your favorite sparklers. I may just have to change my ways and purchase one of the little lovelies below so my favorite pieces have a proper place to sleep at night.

Holiday Gift Guide - Stocking Stuffers

Growing up our holiday tradition was to always open gifts from Santa on Christmas Eve and then the  stockings on Christmas morning. This worked well for my family as we loved to sleep in and the whole waking up at the crack of dawn wasn't really our jam. So I thought I would do a little round up of stocking stuffer gift ideas all under $25!

one - A striped brush set is a great gift for the gal who likes her brushes on display.
two & three - A sleek journal and pencil set to jot down all your brilliant ideas.
four - A pretty tray is perfect for placing your keys & or jewelry at the end of a long day.
five - Prevent tangles of your favorite necklaces with this gilded compartment jewelry box.
six - Adorn your locks with some sparkly & personalized bobby pins.
seven - An initial key chain is an easy breezy personalized gift.
eight - A sparkly bauble is never a fail for your gal.
nine - A stylish flask with a cheeky remark is a fun gift for your favorite over 21 guy.
ten - A make your own guitar pick for the musician in your life.
eleven - Mittens aren't for just toddlers, I love the chic faux fur pom pom on these babies.
twelve - Softer then cashmere scarf available in a slew of on trend patterns.
thirteen - Even guy's need tech accessories. This camo print case is a great masculine print.
fourteen - Stud details are a major trend this year, I personally love them on an iPhone cover.
fifteen - Fun write on Polaroid style frames for your favorite photos.
sixteen - Pinch Provisions emergency kit is a perfect gift for the accident prone {like moi}.
seventeen - A simple clutch that will go with everything is a steal for $20!
eighteen - Stay warm & stylish in this chic faux fur snood!

Happy Gift Giving!

that girl is not from NYC

Anyone remember the episode of Sex and The City revolving around the infamous hair accessory "the scrunchie". Well this past weekend while celebrating my cousins birthday at our favorite Shelter Island watering hole Sunset Beach, I spotted some very fashionable women wearing that exact item. After a bit of research I came across a few of these fabric covered hair ties that have made a possible comeback. So what do you think, is this look back or is it another trend just in rotation???

hair jewelry

At one of my last holiday shopping excursions I spotted an adorable pale pink sparkly headband at my beloved J.Crew. I tried it on and instantly wanted it. I however thought I was too old to pull off this trend and quickly put it back on it's stand and left.  Still thinking about it when I got home, I turned to FB for a little survey to see what others thought and so many friends let me know they rock the look and loved it! So the following day I returned to the mall and bought my first bedazzled hair accessory. I figure it's as close to a tiara as I can get without looking totally ridiculous :)

Below are some hair adornments I found in my searches that I thought were so pretty for an evening out on the town or a stylish soiree. That little number from Urban Outfitters became mine as well since I have become totally headband obsessed.  I have to admit that I love the hanging chains in my hair, it's so fun to add these as pieces to your wardrobe instead of the standard jewelry. Would you wear any of the styles below or have any fab styles to share???pretty headbands chains
