Trendspotting - Delicate Layering

Morning friends! You may have recall previous posts about layering statement necklaces here & here, but today I want to leave the bold baubles behind and talk about the lighter more dainty version of the layered look. Wearing multiple necklaces at once, finding the perfect blend of lengths and coordination of metals can be a bit of a challenge. Don't even get me started on the tangling repercussions of all of the above. So when I started noticing brands were making the layered look simple with styles that have it all done for you all in one clasp, I was sold. I did a little round up of my favorites below and I am happy to report these are all super affordable under $100!

White on White

Mae West once said "too much of a good thing can be wonderful".  This is my exact sentiment when it comes to necklaces, a statement necklace in particular. Come warmer weather I am especially loving them in an all white color palette. I adore the monotone pairing of white on white and always feel like it's a classic look for day or night. A few examples are below.

Rainy Days

Earlier this week Boston had some pretty grim weather with dark skies and chilly dampness in the air. If you ask me that is perfect sleeping in weather but it was only Tuesday, so up and at them I went. While my personal rain gear is head to toe black {shocking I know}, I would love to add some variety to my wet weather wardrobe and lighten things up with some more neutral colors. If I had the space to store yet another coat or boots I surely would be purchasing those fabulous riding style rain boots below and the feminine lace umbrella to create more of a chic look for the dreary wet weather.

splurge vs. steal

There are so many great sources for finding your favorite designer goodies for less. I recently spotted a few fab "fakes" that are total fist pumps for the good old bank account - check them out below - can you tell which is more expensive???

animal instincts

On my first date with my now husband he told me that when we had initially met at work I was walking around the office in a stealth like manner (I was his landlord in a commercial office space) in my leopard heels which earned  me the nickname Tigress. Then being the studious individual he is, he went on in detail to tell me about the history of the "saber tooth tigress" and how I reminded him of this extinct creature, tell me now - what girl wouldn’t want to hear that on a first date! Without going on too much about what happened next let’s just say it gave us a good laugh and I have been stamped with this nickname till this day. This leads me to a very current trend I have always adored – animal prints. Maybe it’s my Long Island roots in me that has always loved this style or that it's readily available in so many styles the past few years, I just cant seem to get enough.  The only thing with this particular pattern is that I think it needs to be done in small doses. No one wants to see a animal prints head to toe. You will either look like an actual tigress or a stuffed animal, neither are a winning look.  Below are some fabulous finds that I think are just the right amount of animal prints needed to turn a blah ensemble bold, just remember to wear one piece at a time. Part two will have some pretty images on pairing this print in your wardrobe!

the saber tooth tigress - pretty huh???

the hubs left me alone last night to attend a work dinner, so naturally I went to the mall & brought home these babies
(a special thank you to my Aunt Barbs for my Christmas gift card that allowed me to purchase them)

color crush - blush

I am seriously in love with the color blush in every single way. It just looks so pretty in make up, bags, jewelery and clothes. Below are a few of my favorite pieces that I have had my my eye on. I am especially obsessing over the t-strap wood heals for the spring. What girl doesn't love pink?! I think wearing it in this softer version is uber feminine without feeling like your a little girl. Part 2 will have some fab inspiration on how to put this color into your wardrobe and part 3 on how to put in your home!

making a statement

If your winter wardrobe is anything like mine it's all black and pretty bland without some fun accessories to spice it up. Ever since the statement necklace made its way onto the market I have fallen in love with the look and I am always looking for a new pieces of jewelry to give my outfits a refresher. Below are some styles that I adore and think would look great to wear from work to evening or to the holiday parties. Dress your jeans and throw on a fab necklace with a blazer and t-shirt and you are looking polished and ready to go.

As always all different price points!
