Formaggio Kitchen

Last night I had the pleasure of attending a class hosted by the gourmet grocer Formaggio Kitchen of Cambridge, MA. When my friend Amelia sent me their extensive class list we both were quick to sign up for the winter wonderland wine and cheese night. It was literally a winter wonderland as Boston was getting snowed on so it seemed like this event was destined for us to attend. While I can't speak for both of us, I am pretty sure Amelia felt similarly to me and that this class was the bomb.com. Just imagine eight different cheeses paired with delicious wines all while a super educated instructor told us every little detail there was to know about them. There was gouda with melted caramel served with a fabulous tawny port, a savory comtè served with a dry Riesling even a pilsner found it's way into the mix with a cheese topped with sautéed onions and sauerkraut {my german self was on cloud nine}. IT WAS HEAVEN ON EARTH. A must try for those who love wine and cheese like I do!

I can't wait to replicate this menu for an in home entertaining wine & cheese party with some fabulous accessories like the ones below!

Labor Day Entertaining

We are off to Shelter Island for one last long weekend of fun in the sun with the family. This summer has by far been the best for me as I have had the luxury to spend lots of time with the people I love and enjoy a flexible schedule for the first time in my life. I am so grateful to have all the amazing memories I have created the past few months. While we don't have a ton of plans during our stay I do love the idea of entertaining in style for any occasion under & Labor Day is no exception. Luckily the fine folks over at Martha Stewart took the bull by the horns and created a tasty menu, simple decor and fabulous paper products to host a BBQ for the long weekend...I hope you have the best weekend celebrating summer with your loved ones!

Happy Weekend!

DIY - A Simple Centerpiece

It's no secret that I love to arrange flowers and create something beautiful with whatever I can find in the market. With the help of last weeks successful DIY I thought I would challenge myself to another round of making something simple yet useful. This time around I only used items I had around the house. I had some leftover twine from a recent homemade banner and some mason jars that were used in a thirsty Thursday cocktail and with that I had my source of my inspiration. Combining these two items allowed me to create a simple yet stylish centerpiece you can make for your home or for your next social event. I personally love putting together rustic elements with elegant blooms to create something casual yet perfectly put together for everyone to enjoy.

Directions
Dab some glue on the jar at your desired starting point, line up the twine against the glue and use that as your anchor to wrap the jar around and around. When you come to the point where you wish to end the twine, trim the material and glue the edge down against the bottle so it doesn't unravel. Let dry a few minutes then decorate with your favorite flowers.
