Valentines Day Gift Guide - For The Fellas

Anyone else find shopping for men a total challenge? I always struggle a bit with a great gift idea for my guy as his interests are super specific and I usually need him to tell me what he wants.  However this year I have decided to surprise him with something he doesn't know about, so I can't wait to give him his present! If you too need a little inspiration on what to buy for your special guy take a look at the little round up of some valentine colored favorites.

Working It Out - Part Two

Last summer I did a little post on workout wear and some music to listen to while getting your sweat on. Since I have been continuing my regimen for getting in shape I thought I would revisit the two and combine into a single post. After all don't we all need a little motivation to get to the gym??? My gyms version of Zumba by far has to be my favorite workout, but over the weekend while my sister was visiting, we tried the new Chestnut Hill Soul Cycle and I loved every painful second. I could easily see myself getting addicted to the class as the quick 45 min sweat session combined with the inspiration from the instructor definitely pushed me to really work hard during the class. So since warmer weather is hopefully around the corner, I am feeling more motivated then ever to keep up the weekly workouts and put together a little round up of stylish gear as well as some new favorite tunes to get your booty moving!

Weekend Wear - Working It Out

Today my sister and I are off to the Bridgehampton location for another session of torture with Physique 57. This class is by far the most difficult class I have ever taken. I seriously couldn't move the entire day after my last class, literally laughing hurt. Since then I have been hitting up Zumba two times a week and Spin one day a week trying to get myself in better shape. One thing that definitely helped me get motivated {besides seeing a hideous picture of my wide hips in white denim} was purchasing some new work out wear that I felt good in. After-all wouldn't you agree a new outfit can make you feel great in any situation??? I usually go all black when it comes to my clothing, but I like my jacket/sweatshirt and sneakers to be my pops of color like in the little ensemble below.

Music that Motivates

I loathed gym class pretty much my entire adolescent life. I would come up with every excuse in the book to get out of a class with a note, a cramp or some other lame excuse. When I got into high school my dislike for this forced activity only grew when we had to take pool class twice a week. I quickly conjured an allergic reaction to chlorine to help me get out of this bi-weekly form of torture. You can say what you like about me detesting such a minor thing and about fibbing my way out of it because I 100% own up to that I would have done anything to get out of a game of dodge ball, square dancing {grade school} and or diving in a pool for colored weights, NO THANK YOU!  I was all set with embarrassing myself in front of my peers. Do not even get me started on the presidents physical fitness challenge that was a prerequisite in NY schools. I still have nightmares that I didn't complete the ridiculous requirements in front of my classmates and have to do it again as an adult by law. If my life depended on a pull up, I would be dead - enough said.

Unfortunately my absolute distaste for this horrid school requirement has carried with me well into my thirties, where I feel like a night of having to work out is as pleasurable as a root canal. I however want to do  be healthy, preferably two sizes smaller and overall more energetic. What is a girl to do??? My solution came down to the following, join a gym that isn't filled with people that have body odor like my previous gym. Buy new work out clothes instead of my crappy faded clothes that double as pajamas {a new outfit is always motivation for me} and finally create a kick ass motivating work out play list. God knows with my tendency to get motion sickness with even the slight spin of a twirly chair that I will definitely not be reading while working out! What motivates you to work out and what do you listen to help keep you going???

my old gym looked something like this

I am planning on joining a gym more like this

I See Sunshine

The sun is finally gracing us with it's appearance in Boston and I feel so much happier that summer is  lurking around the corner. Last week I broke my favorite pair of shades and it had me on the hunt for some new ones. Being that I am terrible with change, I wound up purchasing the same exact pair but it had me thinking that sunglasses might be on the most perfect accessories out there. They can make a statement and express your personal style so easily. Whether your into the likes of an over-sized "Jackie-O" version or the classic aviator, their is a look out there for everyone. Even performance glasses don't have to be off trend, just look at those Nike beauties below. Almost every style has come back full circle such as the infamous wayfarers (I used to sport the neon version way back when) or the retro cat eye glasses like the DVF's below. These days you truly have your selection in the sunnies department, colors, shapes and prints galore! Sunglasses can be flirtatious, hide your blood shot eyes after a rough night out, hold your hair back while sun bathing and or hide some dozing off while sitting through something uber boring. The only negative styling trend I can think of are the tools  people who insist on wearing them at night, I cannot stand that. These are for daylight only people! Which look is your favorite???
