Just Beachy

I always feel fortunate that when we visit Shelter Island that my parents have saved me, my brother and sister all our own private space within their home. Seeing this wasn't the house I grew up in, it's a  real treat to feel right at home in a house that can still feel new to us. When they built the house we were all given the opportunity to decorate the rooms as we wished. I unofrutnately was a bit all over the place and picked a few random things to get it done. Now that I am older and more set on my personal style...I feel our little corner of the home could use a bit of a refresh. Luckily things like the bed and furniture are all still items I love so I am hoping to switch things up with some accessories and have the only big splurge to be some new bedding. Below is a little peak of the color scheme and direction I am thinking. I hope to share some before and after's when it's all complete!

JA + SD 4EVA

I have shared numerous Jonathan Adler items in posts on interior design and couldn't resist their new Shelter Island home when they moved away from our side of the island. It's safe to say I adore his "happy chic" style and their philosophy on decorating that your home should be your antidepressant. His bold decor items and unique style have made me a permanent fan of his work. So when I was sent a video series he did with AOL I was thrilled to get a little peak into what inspires this creative genius as well as tid bits of their Manhattan home  {I mean a paisley ping pong table is now on my must have house list} and some antique shops on our beloved island I knew I had to share it with you all. I mean, how flipping adorable are these two...answer = pretty dang cute. Enjoy the short episodes below and see what I am talking about!

Real Estate Crush - Jonathan Adler & Simon Doonan

When I first met Jonathan & Simon it was a casual encounter as they were taking an evening walk past my parents Shelter Island home. They were so nice and normal but I of course was nervous and excited. Knowing who they were, I was thrilled to be meeting them in person. They lived next to my parents in a very cool "A Frame" bungalow for a few years and were the nicest of neighbors. They never minded when our beloved Springer Spaniel Homer would go for a walk on his own and eventually venture onto their lawn followed with barking his brains off at their adorable terrier Liberace nor did they ever complain when my dad's "au natural" landscaping ideals didn't match their chic beach getaway. Let's face it, most neighbors aren't easy and when you have a celebrity neighbor you would imagine that it's a double whammy for headaches. Not the case with these two. They are wonderful people, down to earth and from what I can tell in their writing style, they are hilarious.  I am so in love with their new home on the enchanted Island my family calls home. When I was home and heard AD was featuring this fab couples new home I couldn't wait to share it with all of you!
