Art For The Bathroom

Growing up there was this famous steak house in NYC my dad would take us for special occasions. I remember it distinctly because there was a very large nude painting that was displayed behind the bar. that made me crack up every time we walked by it. I have luckily since grown in maturity {my husband may debate that statement}. So when it came to decorating our new home I was torn about what piece I wanted for a very large empty space above our soaking tub. Luckily for me, my sweet friend Amelia is a talented art consultant and helped me get a beautiful piece commissioned that fit the space perfectly. Not only did she handle all the details with the artist, she had it matted, framed and installed for us just in time for our holiday housewarming party. I adore the above watercolor figure study. It was the perfect piece for our master bath. It's simple with it's black and white color palette and just the right amount of nudity to keep things tasteful. I put together a few other nude examples that you too can add to your powder room.

Minted

Minted has long been a favorite source of mine for holiday cards, invitations, moving announcements and general stationary. I absolutely love the convenience that all my addresses can be printed on envelopes for me and they let you customize your project with colors, fonts and so much more. So when they reached out to me about their amazing art collection I was super excited to take a peak. First I was impressed with their helpful search engines allowing me to narrow down what I was looking for by the color palette. Since I was wanting to stay within colors that matched my existing home decor.  The next part was the selection of framing,  I loved that you are able to see each piece in every frame option. Lastly, they give you tips on other pieces that would work with the art you have selected and how it would look in a gallery wall for a visual interest.  I selected three prints, two for our city apartment and one to go along with a map that was gifted to my husband out at my families home on Shelter Island. I absolutely love how well the pieces work together and the two very different looks really show our personal style. One has a casual beach vibe with a weathered frame that perfectly matched my jewelry box we already had while the other prints are nicely layered on one another under our TV in our master bedroom in a sleek white wood frame.

Pretty Pottery

I have a major love for pottery, especially pieces that are topped off with a gilded rim. They look so beautiful displaying your meals and/or sitting pretty on your shelves. The china we picked from our wedding day is all white and pretty lackluster. I would love to amp up our table settings with more interesting pieces like these few that I rounded up from some stylish potters. The above set is from Suite One Studio which offers a slew of small batch beauties made right here in the good old USA. I first spotted this artist's work on the amazing website Food52 and was totally smitten as soon as I saw them. The lace pieces make such a beautiful wedding gift, don't you think? I also love that they above set coordinates so well with these small dishes that I featured in this etsy love post. 

The bowls below is from Studiomake under their "flawed" line which celebrates the beauty of imperfections. I personally love the soft colors and raw edges. They are almost too pretty to use...almost.

The trio below is a beautifully shaped set of dishes that can be used for catching keys to holding jewelry or for food.

Etsy is always a great resource for finding personalized pieces at great prices so when I saw these gold rimmed ring dishes in the prettiest calligraphy I knew I had to share.

Etsy Love

Anyone else a confessed Etsy addict? I am literally checking that site on a weekly basis for items for parties to personal treats for my friends, my home or myself. To keep myself from being overwhelmed I save the items I want to revisit in a favorites folder and want to share a few with you! 

If there was actually a real "press for champagne button" all my dreams would come true...actually scratch that, make it champagne & puppies :) This darling shop has a ton of cute and cheeky buttons for the gal with a silly side. 

Fancy pretty art but don't want to spend a fortune on it? A great way to get the look of a painting is by framing and mounting a beautiful print like the beauty below. 

An artful little trinket dish is so cute to add a little color to your kitchen/ tables for pinches of salt & pepper or a pretty place to place your jewelry on your night stand. 

We cover our phones with cute cases all the time so why not our larger tech devices too?! How amazing is this faux marble lap top cover? Seriously in love!

I am seriously smitten with these pottery planter wall hangings, grey & gold is one of my all time favorite combinations. I think they would look very cool in a kitchen or bathroom to display some fresh florals. I also love the designers marble ring dish in this shop. 

Pretty pouches, cosmetic bags and clutches in a slew of fabulous fabrics are a great gift to a gal pal or yourself! I personally love coordinated trios of pouches to throw in larger bags to help keep me organized. One for touchup beauty products, one for miscellaneous items that usually swim in the bottom of my bag like a tide stick, hair ties, bobby pins and so on and finally one for technology items as seen in this guest post. 

Etsy Love

Etsy is always a great resource for unique items where your purchase also also supports small businesses. I personally have turned to the for numerous goodies ranging from party decor to little details from our wedding that I couldn't find anywhere else. A few of my recent favorites are below. Do you have any easy shops that you adore and are willing to share???

The colorful artwork by Siiso has me craving some pops of color in our home. I am particularly drawn to the piece below.  I am in love with all the bright hues mixed with one another. 

Totally obsessed with this inflatable party invite, so fun for birthday or cheery celebration. 

I recently was introduced to Laura Hooper Calligraphy on instagram and quickly fell hard for her pretty work. Her Etsy shop is filled with fun customizable goodies but the little bubbly sign below is perfection as is...would be fabulous on a champagne bar. 

I have a little neon pink cactus that needs a proper home & this petite planter cube might just be the perfect place for it to be on display. 

I love milk glass and a set of mixed styles looks positively chic. I would love to have a mantel full of blooms like the beauties below. 

These gold dipped twig pencils are so cute for gifting to a creative kid. Would be perfectly paired with this coloring book. 

Walkyland

When I stumbled upon the colorful site Walkyland, the home of artist Monika Forseberg I knew I was in for a visual treat. The bold works quickly caught my attention and had me loving her whimsical artistic style. Something about her pieces screamed that this Swedish born artist is a young, fun and lighthearted person. I especially adored the healthy dose of bright pink in many of the illustrations seen below. It's such a cheery pop of color that would add a powerful punch to a neutral room. 

Art Discovery - Clare Elsaesser

Every once and a while I stumble across something on Etsy that really moves me. Whether it be a an item that I haven't seen before or someone who can create something bespoke without having to pay through the roof, it's a source for so many creative things. Art however is one of those things thanks to my friend Amelia that I have truly begun to really appreciate and when I find an artist whose work really leaves me blown away I am sure to bookmark it and share it with you all. That is exactly how I felt when I saw the works of Clare Elsaesser in her Etsy shop. I don't know the exact words to describe her style but I do know that I love it. Take a looksie below and see for yourself on how amazing this person's talent is. It has me dreaming of some serious wall space in our future home to create a gallery wall in.  Plus she studied art in Boston so it's like supporting a local friend!

Life's Little Sayings

Last week I shared some artwork that had a fashionable element to it. I thought I would revisit the subject but this time around where the art is words. Whether it's a favorite quote, lyrics to a loved song or simply something that inspires you, the prints below are certainly worthy of some real estate on your walls.
