Flattering Flats

Living in the city means a lot of walking around town and heels are definitely not a friend of the broken sidewalks of our little historic neighborhood. I recently picked up these two pairs of flats trying to replace my old favorites {available here in other colors} that are literally worn through the sole and I am having trouble on which pair to keep. I personally love the look of the d'Orsay style with it's pointy toe and open middle. Just feels a bit more dressy then the typical ballet flat. It's perfect for the warmer weather and available in a plethora of prints, materials and colors. A little round up of  some my favorites are below.

Fringe Benefits

Hope you all had a fabulous long weekend! John & I were home on Shelter Island visiting my family. I was seriously surprised how lucky we were with the weather. The entire weekend consisted of scooter rides, beach days and good old fashioned family time. Total perfection. While brunching at one of our favorite seasonal restaurants, I stopped in their petite boutique to check out some of their fashionable finds. One trend I was loving was the brightly colored fringe necklaces they had on display. A trend I have been noticing quite a bit from jewelry to clothing to bags.

Bows For Your Toes

Morning lovelies...quick post today as we got in very late from our Arizona travels. I have a bit of an obsession with bows, especially when it comes to footwear. My favorite flats are adorned in sparkly bows and always my first choice for comfort and style but I am admiring this little feminine embellishment on everything from pumps to flip flops. A round of up a few that I am coveting are below. How flipping awesome are those Valentino thong sandals, I think they need to be mine STAT!

Pretty Petals

One trend I am fully on board with this Spring is floral prints on everything. I seriously cannot get enough! It oozes femininity and elegance but also works well with so many other patterns, specifically stripes. I gathered a few items that boast this blooming print and literally want one of everything.
Untitled #595

one - Ted Baker is clearly loving floral as much as me since he has created an entire line called "Botanical Beauty". I am especially admiring the structured blazer above paired with some destroyed denim and a great tee.

two - When it comes to Tory Burch it's all about prints. She is the master of mixing them tastefully. This floral tote is quite possibly the most perfect Spring statement bag that resembles more of a piece of vintage art then a piece of fashion.  P.S. Her runway show at NYFW is online today at 9AM!

three - Kate Spade was inspired by Paris in the Spring when she created this blossoming printed scarf.

four - Rifle Paper may not fall into the fashion category but this floral & metallic gold note card was too pretty to resist sharing. I simply love everything they do. NEED to order those ASAP!

five - I have to dive into the turban headband trend, but after seeing my jewelry idol Lulu Frost looking super chic at NYFW, that all may change. This cheery yellow chiffon hair accessory might be perfect for the frizzy summer hair.

six - I DIE over this dress. It's petal perfection. The grey floral base with the pops of pinks & purple is so simple and elegant.

seven -  Dress up your ears with these pretty floral inspired studs.

eight - BCBG is also on board with floral this upcoming season. These high waisted wide leg pants would look super chic with a fitted tank and high heeled sandal.

nine -  For those who want a little edge mixed in with their floral prints, this phone case fits the bill.

ten - What's not to love with this little compact that is boasting stripes and a floral pattern in a neutral color palette. A total steal at $4!

eleven - Kate Spade took her parisian garden inspiration and created some seriously pretty jewelry like this statement bracelet.

twelve - Givenchy never fails when it comes to their sandals. This floral printed pair is no exception. I would like one of every print & color of this shoe.

thirteen -  Pair this pouch with the compact mirror and you have a pretty little set for storing makeup on the go!

Faux - Real

One of my favorite winter trends hands down has to be faux fur. Gone are the days where the synthetic material looked like the a tattered mess. These days you can get the luxe look of fur without the price tag and or the sacrifice of animals. Faux fur translates so well from a dressed up look like the dress coat below or as a liner on the more casual vest also below. Personally, my faux fur vest has been on heavy rotation this season and I am hoping santa brings me some faux fur lined boots to keep my footsies warm during Boston's cold winters.

Holiday Gift Guide - Stocking Stuffers

Growing up our holiday tradition was to always open gifts from Santa on Christmas Eve and then the  stockings on Christmas morning. This worked well for my family as we loved to sleep in and the whole waking up at the crack of dawn wasn't really our jam. So I thought I would do a little round up of stocking stuffer gift ideas all under $25!

one - A striped brush set is a great gift for the gal who likes her brushes on display.
two & three - A sleek journal and pencil set to jot down all your brilliant ideas.
four - A pretty tray is perfect for placing your keys & or jewelry at the end of a long day.
five - Prevent tangles of your favorite necklaces with this gilded compartment jewelry box.
six - Adorn your locks with some sparkly & personalized bobby pins.
seven - An initial key chain is an easy breezy personalized gift.
eight - A sparkly bauble is never a fail for your gal.
nine - A stylish flask with a cheeky remark is a fun gift for your favorite over 21 guy.
ten - A make your own guitar pick for the musician in your life.
eleven - Mittens aren't for just toddlers, I love the chic faux fur pom pom on these babies.
twelve - Softer then cashmere scarf available in a slew of on trend patterns.
thirteen - Even guy's need tech accessories. This camo print case is a great masculine print.
fourteen - Stud details are a major trend this year, I personally love them on an iPhone cover.
fifteen - Fun write on Polaroid style frames for your favorite photos.
sixteen - Pinch Provisions emergency kit is a perfect gift for the accident prone {like moi}.
seventeen - A simple clutch that will go with everything is a steal for $20!
eighteen - Stay warm & stylish in this chic faux fur snood!

Happy Gift Giving!

Mad For Plaid

Is there any print out there more appropriate for the holiday season then plaid? Every year around this time I am drawn to the cozy pattern. It has me dreaming of snowy nights in the city, warm fires, hot beverages, snuggles with my puppy {& husband} and of course Christmas songs playing in the background {this is my favorite song}. It's pretty much the quintessential winter pattern out there and made me inspired to share a few of my favorite tartan printed items for the home and the wardrobe.

A velvety Pendleton throw is super cozy for a chilly winter evening along with a cup of hot cocoa in this set of plaid mugs or a snack on these plates. Holiday entertaining is a breeze with these monogrammed napkins, also a thoughtful hostess gift. A traditional plaid scarf looks super chic over a solid wool coat, especially when it's a total steal at $13! Tech accessories need a wardrobe change for the season too, this lap top case is perfect for protecting your computer from the winter weather. I have a complete obsession with clutches and I am seriously swooning over this flannel beauty with the chain detail. A flirty skirt is super fun for the winter months when paired with opaque tights and a classic black sweater. How amazing would these plaid heels be on Christmas with an all black outfit, NEED! No animals hurt in the making of this adorable antler print, perfect for some seasonal decorating. This bow tie bracelet is preppy perfection for your wrist. More subtle embellishments like these adorable brogue plaid barettes and trio of brooches that look amazing on your outwear or blazer lapel. Finally you can go bold with a plaid dress in a wonderfully simple plaid print. I adore it's shift silhouette which can be made edgier with a cute moto jacket {available here too & a total style steal}.

happy shopping & thank you for stopping by!

color combination crush - peach & mint

Inspired by the color scheme of my friends baby shower I thought I would see where else these soft colors could be used. While I adore the mint and peach color combination for party decor it can also work brilliantly for the home and the wardrobe. Check out some of the fun finds I came across to accessorize your abode and or your ensemble.
What do you think of these two colors paired with eachother???

Summer Style

As I enter the homestretch of my last two weeks in the corporate world I can't help but have one thing on my mind and that is summertime. I am dreaming of days of being poolside or the beach and wearing nothing but a bathing suit and cute cover up all day long. Since we spend most of our summers on Shelter Island you will likely find me being casual 24/7 but that doesn't mean being fashionable is thrown out the door or that you need to empty your wallet to look fabulous. All these looks below are well under $100 and available in a variety of sizes - a little something for everyone!

now & later

I never want to wish away the summer. It is most definitely my favorite time of year! However since August showed up in a hot second and all the fall fashions are hitting the shelves I thought I would try to demonstrate on how you can incorporate a summer dress into your fall wardrobe. I chose a white lace skater dress as the base of the outfit. It not only screams summer because of its color but also something no one would likely purchase for their fall wardrobe. In the warmer months I paired it with a lot of navy, my favorite color combination keeping the look casual and relaxed for a perfect summery day to night look. While most people tend to wear a lot of brown colors in their fall wardrobe, I decided to go with black and give this girly lace dress a rocker edge by adding a studded belt, black opaque tights and a very cool waterfall suede jacket that will most definitely get some serious mileage in your wardrobe {perfect for jeans & LBD's}. I love adding tights to summer dresses to give them a second life in a different season and changing out a great belt can give your overall look an entirely new vibe. What do you think, would you wear these looks???

Denim Tuxedo

My friends and I used to joke that whenever we saw someone wearing jeans with a jean shirt and jean jacket that they were in a "denim tuxedo". I loathed the look back then thinking it screamed country western and all things cowboys but  I have to admit I am warming up to the look as of late. The trick is all about picking the right shades of blue in your denim and pairing them accordingly. Just look at how well denim on denim can look & shop the looks below!
