Some of you who know me may remember when I dabbled in writing a children book called "The Pretty Poppy" {but have yet had the courage to send to a publisher - more on that another time}. With my ongoing interest in kid lit I always keep my eye on what's out there in the world of books for kids I came across "Go the Fu*k to Sleep" by Adam Mansbach and illustrations by Ricardo Cortes. Besides the obvious hysterical title I was intrigued to learn more about this book the author. Adam wrote the book after his own difficulty getting his daughter Vivienne to sleep and joked with his friends online that this was going to be his next book. After encouragement from his friends he turned his witty banter in a book. However, this is not a book for a child...more for the adults who can relate and want a good laugh about the struggles of parenthood. Here area few excerpts:
The tiger reclines in the simmering jungle;
The sparrow has silenced her cheep;
F--- your stuffed bear, I'm not getting you s---;
Close your eyes. Cut the crap. Sleep.
The sparrow has silenced her cheep;
F--- your stuffed bear, I'm not getting you s---;
Close your eyes. Cut the crap. Sleep.

All the kids from daycare are in dreamland.
The froggie has made his last leap.
Hell no, you can't go to the bathroom.
You know where you can go? The f--- to sleep.
---------------------------------------------------------------
The eagles who soar through the sky are at rest
And the creatures who crawl, run and creep.
I know you're not thirsty. That's bullsh*t. Stop lying.
Lie the f**k down, my darling, and sleep.

A more subdued kid friendly version is also available that you can read to your children, the bonus is it's still clever humor so the parents aren't bored to tears while reading it.
