While watching we start our holiday shopping online with the black Friday sales. I know I know, there's a little thing called Cyber Monday, but I am just a little too impatient to wait till then. Almost all the retailers offer free shipping and deep discounts all weekend long, so stay in your pajamas, pour another cup of java and get your shopping game on in the comfort of your home...I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving holiday!

Holiday Gift Guide - For The Kiddos

I absolutely love shopping for my nieces year round but the holidays really give me reasoning to go more overboard then usual. However as they get older so does the gift giving, toys suddenly don't have the same appeal and picking out clothes is something they like to do on their own. I still give it the good old college effort and have put together a little round up of gifts for kids of all ages and below that a list of current sales and cute clothing items to score before they are gone on black Friday.

Cash or Credit - All Black

Baby it's cold outside! Since we relocated to NYC there has been some serious arctic temperatures which has had me on the hunt for some warm outwear. With the help of my girlfriends {and a 30% off sale} getting about a zillion picture messages for their opinions I finally settled on that J.Crew little number below. However, as much as I love a sale I do believe a splurging on outwear is not necessarily a bad idea...come winter in the northeast you will be wearing these coats so much why not sport something you truly love. Have a great weekend everyone!

Holiday Gift Guide - For The Pets

Yesterday as I finished packing up the car to head to NYC, I stepped in dog poop not once but TWICE and ruined a pair of my favorite flats. Which I dwelled on for my four hour drive to the big apple. As I called to tell my my mom the story, I instead I got my dad on the line who kept things in perspective by telling me "that's hilarious, wait till I tell Khloe & Kaiser". Which I turned into an opportunity to start brainstorming what I am getting those two loves of my life. So whether you are gifting your faithful companion or someone who has a beloved pet, there are tons of amazing presents to give to those furry friends of ours or those who are pet obsessed like moi.
Untitled #702

one - John & I had a pet fish together when we first started dating, it's home was definitely not as chic as this one, maybe we should give it a try again!

four - Make travel on the go with your pet a breeze in this cute carrier.
five - Dress up your furry baby with this cute bow tie over the collar.
six - Merry Woofmas to all & to all a good night!
seven - Mac & cheese in the form of a biscuit for pooches and how can you resist those tartan tins.
eight - Travel made easy with these foldable bowls.
nine - What pooch wouldn't want to call this little teepee tent his own for nap time.
ten - Toys are always appreciated by dogs of all ages and these plaid scotties are no exception.
eleven - A city essential for those people who actually curb their dogs, these little bag wallet's clasp onto the leash so you never forget them.
twelve - Your furry babies kibble will look far more appetizing in this adorable candy colored trio of bowls & canisters.
thirteen - I wish these little puffer jackets came in sizes big enough for bigger dogs, shouldn't they get to look stylish too?

BOS ---> NYC

Morning friends! A quick little announcement today as I am literally on my way out the door. My husband and I will be relocating to NYC for a short period time for a work project. So while Boston is where we plan on making our forever home, I am very much looking forward to the next two months in NYC where we can host friends & family in our temporary apartment. Since we are both from Long Island, the city has always felt a bit of a home away from home for us, yet it's more work then play these days. I hope to play tourist in this large city we very rarely get to take advantage of. In our down time I look forward to visiting museums, trying new restaurants and enjoying the city during the best time of the year. See you in 2015 Boston!

Holiday Gift Guide - For the Host/Hostess

Morning friends...I have been busy pinning away tons of fun gift ideas over here but wanted to start off the holiday season with my annual gift guide series. This time of year is for hosting parties and dinners with your nearest and dearest. So even though Thanksgiving isn't even upon us yet, saving the dates for the slew of holiday festivities is, which means you need to get your gifting game on. Whether the soiree thrower is a guy or a gal, any of the gifts below would be sure to make the recipient feel super appreciated!
Untitled #700

one - I love games, especially ones that keep my family or guests around the dinner table longer. So I adore this idea of bringing elegant little glass vials that read a fortune to each guest.

two - I'll toast to any drink made in this glam shaker.

three - Who wouldn't fancy another on this playful tray?

four - Crack open another brewsky with this adorable pretzel bottle opener.

five - This is my kinda plant, succulent sculptures that are painted and gilded in the cutest geometric planters.

six - Pop, fizz & clink cocktail napkins are a welcomed place to put your drink on.

seven - Tis the season for all things peppermint and this cookie collection is no exception. Instead of bringing a typical store bought dessert, bring along some pretty and tasty cookies that boast the taste of the holidays.

eight - Who knew salt & pepper shakers could be so chic? Love these danish designed grinders available in a bunch of well coordinated colors.

nine - A bottle of vino rarely isn't finished in our home, but if we had leftovers, I would love to top them off with these gold geo bottle stoppers.

ten - I nearly died when I read this little pebble dish was replicated from a stone picked on my beloved Shelter Island {love when our little community is getting noticed}. I love that it can be used for food or trinkets & I adore the ability to mix the metal finishes together.

eleven - Is there anything better then olive oil and bread, I think not. Especially served in this cute little serving set and coordinating dishes.

twelve - I am seriously smitten with these festive bubbly bottles. I may need to order a case & gift to every house party I attend.

thirteen - J.Crew has added some very cool home items and this star cutting board is definitely one of them.

fourteen - Sometimes you just need your drink to go and it doesn't get cuter then this "break the ice" Kate Spade tumbler.

fifteen - Give your guests a stylish holiday guest towel set  for display in their home.

sixteen - Who doesn't love a candle burning during the holiday season? Gift them with some chic matches and you have yourself a stellar gift.

Feed

When philanthropy and fashion come together you truly get something that you can feel good about treating yourself to. Good's that do good has been a topic on this blog several times with items that support all different causes. Today I thought as the holiday season quickly approaches, sharing the beautiful campaign for the Feed Project would be appropriate. Created in 2007 by Lauren Bush Lauren, the companies mission is to provide meals through the sales of products that are made with fair labor regulations, by artisans and natural fabrics. Each item sports a number on the design letting you know how many meals your purchase provided for someone less fortunate. They recently launched their holiday products and a very beautiful campaign called "come together" featuring very beautiful photos of celebrities modeling the products. Take a look below and give a gift this year that gives back! Also check out the very stylish collaboration that they did with West Elm that feeds hungry families here in the USA.

all items in the above round up can be found here

***Please note - any sales made through this post & the West Elm collaboration will be donated to the Feed Project***

Fringe Benefits

Hey everyone...so sorry for the late post, blogging from NYC this week and the internet access at our hotel has been quite the challenge. Let's just say I am having flashbacks to this and have lost my my mind quite a few times since Monday trying to put together blog posts. Any who, walking around NYC has been quite inspirational for content. The women here are oh so fashionable and have me spotting tons of on point trends. Fringe is a big one that I first noticed it on the street style muse Olivia Palermo at NYFW this past September. She basically kills it overtime with incorporating trends without being over the top. So while I have yet to try this look out for myself {I keep seeing this movie in my mind when I think of wearing a fringe outfit}, I am definitely loving it on others. A little round up on some stylish fringe looks are below, as always at all different price points!

Untitled #696

Did you fabulous people see there is a sale going on over at J.Crew with a ton of new arrivals? Save 25% off with code SHOPNOW or 30% off if your a card holder with code CARDTREAT. I definitely will be starting my Christmas shopping with theses awesome savings!

Trendspotting - Delicate Layering

Morning friends! You may have recall previous posts about layering statement necklaces here & here, but today I want to leave the bold baubles behind and talk about the lighter more dainty version of the layered look. Wearing multiple necklaces at once, finding the perfect blend of lengths and coordination of metals can be a bit of a challenge. Don't even get me started on the tangling repercussions of all of the above. So when I started noticing brands were making the layered look simple with styles that have it all done for you all in one clasp, I was sold. I did a little round up of my favorites below and I am happy to report these are all super affordable under $100!

Coming Soon - Smart Jewelry

Remember when I first blogged about smart jewelry with this Ringly post? Well it looks like the trend of combining fashion with technology is something that is really taking off. First there was a collaboration between Google glasses with Diane Von Furstenburg, then Tory Burch's stylish line with Fit Bit, even Opening Ceremony has created a gorgeous bracelet called Mica with Intel launching this winter. But today I am talking about Cuff which is available for pre-order and coming next March. What set's this smart technology from the others is that it doesn't just offer you reminders about your incoming calls, forgotten iPhone and track your daily movements for a healthier lifestyle but it also has a safety feature to allow you to call for help with the simple push of a button that is discretely hidden in beautiful baubles on your wrist or neck.  Something that is really a selling point for me in today's scary world. You can watch the short video of all it's features and how it works here.

Style & Real Estate - Beacon Hill Edition

My very first post on this blog was a "style & real estate" feature on a home my husband and I were totally smitten with in our beloved little neighborhood, Beacon Hill. For those who may not be familiar with Boston and it's numerous neighborhoods, our little corner of the city is filled with lots of federal style historic homes, gaslit lined brick streets and a charming main street USA where you feel like your in a small town versus a major city. The locals go all out for the holidays and walking through the streets during a snowstorm feels like you are walking in a snow globe of a make believe town. Basically what I am saying is that I love where I live and I couldn't imagine a better place to call home. So while we patiently wait to find our forever home in a impossibly difficult real estate market, I love to admire homes in our neighborhood that others have made renovated and made into urban paradises that any city dweller can be envious of. The home below of designer Nina Farmer is exactly that. I am truly in awe of everything she did with her brownstone, check it out for yourself.

I love how this living room functions as a formal sitting area & a casual family room - utilizing one room for two purposes is genius for city living where square footage is a precious commodity

Disguising a television behind artwork is pure genius - stealing for my future home.

This kitchen kills me with its perfection. How amazing is it's curved shape and floor to ceiling windows.

Anyone recall the movie The Family Stone where the mom had her desk/office situation in the kitchen, I loved it there and I love it here...afterall, the kitchen is the heart of the home.

There are no words for the incredibleness that is the dining area below. Oh the fabulous dinner parties those walls have seen.

Note to self - make an all black & white gallery wall stat! So chic.

Who knew a chandelier & a four poster bed could work together?

Is there anything better for a marriage then a double vanity in a bathroom? I think not. Also I will now want a giant arrangnment of fresh florals in my bathroom at all times.

Cookbook Crush - Thug Kitchen

{you can purchase here}

Confession...I have a horrible mouth. I curse way too much and if things aren't going my way, I can form complete sentences that only include profanities. My husband has thankfully been slowly breaking me of this truck driver habit and has even completely rid me of flipping the bird at a-bag drivers when I am filled with road rage. This is a very good thing considering people are totally bat shit crazy and you never know when someone will go postal on you...that combined with the fact that I often think I am a hell of a lot tougher then I actually am. So when I came across the Thug Kitchen cookbook during a recent visit to a local book store, I fell totally head over heels in love. Michelle Davis & Matt Holloway are the crass combo behind the book that aim to make you eat healthier with simple ingredients and do so by being 100% vegan all with an foul mouthed hilarity that is undeniably relatable. While the vegan lifestyle is something that I am not completely drawn to {sorry I still like a burger or bolognese sauce every now and then} the ingenuity behind the unpretentious recipes and comedic writing could convince me to give all their dishes a try. Check out some of their recipes below to get a little sampling of their work to give you an idea of what they are all about... this will definitely be on my Christmas list to Santa!

Currently Coveting

I have been trying to be pretty disciplined when it comes to shopping lately.  With the holiday's around the corner I have been on the hunt for all my holiday gift guides {coming later this month} and treats for my loved ones. That however doesn't mean I haven't eyed some lovely little items that I am currently coveting to add to my wardrobe. Everything from the most chic & affordable cape to comfy pajamas for lazy weekends with my main squeeze. A little round up of my favorites around the fashionable web is below.
