Beauty Roundup

Ever get tired of every single product you own? I do. While I am definitely loyal to a few tried and true beauty items i.e. mixing Calypso Vanille & Lavende for my signature scent & my beloved drugstore mascara, I was pretty much done with everything else that I was using. While there was nothing wrong with my previous products it was fun to revamp my cosmetic case with some new products in new hues for Spring. Some of my new favorites are below with notes below on how I wear them. I'd love to know what is your favorite beauty product?

Untitled #629

When I walked into Bloomingdales for my new products my goal was a dewey natural sun kissed glow. Yes that is a whole lot of adjectives to pretty much describe that I wanted to avoid looking tired and dry from this horrible New England weather. I decided to not spend all my money at one counter and visited a few different brands for some favorite products I knew and loved as well as some new ones to help me achieve the best version of myself. Let's start with the face. My skin is dry, like sahara dry...so I need a great moisturizer stat! While I use this lotion after cleansing before bedtime with my "unwrinkle pads" {that I use on my face, neck & hands}, I decided for my everyday desired "glow" the MAC Strobe Cream would be a great morning lotion to help soften my skin before the application of makeup. I then apply my tinted beauty balm {in vanilla glow} with my favorite applicator for even distribution. On top of that I use bb cream concealer {in light} to hide the dark circles that take residence under my eyes. Then I apply a soft coating of bronzer {in laguna} all over and a bit of blush {in dame} on my cheek bones. Once the face is complete I move to my eyes. I am not sure if this is the right way but I then apply mascara {in black noir}. Followed up with a layer of MAC pro longwear paint pot {in painterly} as a base. Another soft swipe of shadow {in naked lunch}. I then line my eyes with a plum pencil {in boredeauxline} topped with another soft swipe of shadow just over the liner part {in beautiful iris} a hue that I believe works with for eye color. Finally, the lips and my most favorite. I personally never find a single color that is just right so I always like to mix of a few. I first start with Nars Matte Lip Pencil {in sex machine} then a soft coat of Lipstick Queen {in crime} for an added pop of pink pigment. For touch ups I turn to my favorite gloss {in the pink} for a sheen and softening element.

Rainbow Bright

One thing our home is missing {besides square footage} is a cheerful burst of color. I am not really quite sure why I shy away from color in my house {and wardrobe}, maybe I am intimidated about making it too trendy or perhaps I am just not that bold with design. I however have a feeling in our next home I will be adding lots of color in our accessories to fill bookshelves, tabletops and especially in art with the help of my friend Amelia of Colour-bloc.

Golden Tote

I have to be honest, I don't know a lot of woman that don't enjoy shopping. It seems almost every female I have ever met can agree that a little retail therapy can help cure most bad days or that an outfit you feel great in can make you feel on top of the world. So for those who love shopping but don't have the time - this service is for you! Golden Tote offers a monthly mail service with two different price points {$49 for 2-3 items/month or $149 for 5-7/month} that sends you fab fashions right to your door. The custom bags are curated by two California fashionistas who are known as "the Sarah's" that will pick out on trend styles in your size and send your way. Oh, one of my favorite parts is on their social media they provide styling inspiration for their pieces they have in their shop as seen below {sort of reminds me of my weekend wear feature}. Every first of the month is a new tote with new treats for your enjoying...so go on and take a peak!

Weekend Wear - Just Peachy

Come Spring is there anything better then just being able to throw on a blazer and head out the door? I personally love forgoing a coat whenever I can and I always feel incredibly put together in a sleek blazer. So tonight when I head to an event that my friend Lauren is hosting in Boston. I plan on pulling a look similar to the one below. Have a great weekend everyone!

Gift Guide - Mother's Day

Mom's are the best! Even in my mid thirties I still talk to my mom daily on the phone, look forward to days when just her and I get to go shopping and when I visit home I rely on her for pretty much everything. It's no doubt the hardest job in the world and one you never get to retire from. So why not gift your mom with something super special to let her know just how much she means to you. A few of my ideas are below!

Untitled #625

Perfume has always been a easy go to for moms for practically every single holiday out there. Amp up your fragrance gift giving with this chic refillable Hermes Lock Spray. Tory Burch anything is pretty much a safe bet for your favorite mom. I am especially loving this floral print iPhone case {could be perfectly paired with an iPhone upgrade}. Pearls never go out of style and this pair  {also available in silver} that both me and my mom already own are a classic favorite that goes with everything. A trio of natural frames to display some family photos or homemade art is perfect for the mom who loves to take snaps of the kiddos. A pretty place for chef mama to store all her secret recipes. A sampler of mini macrons for indulging - perhaps with a glass of wine, flowers and a bubbly bath set already set up for her. These cookbooks are a perfect combination of stylish design and function for the mom who loves to flex her cooking muscles. Cozy throws are a big deal in our home. We all have our own when we want to get comfy on the couch. No gift is complete with a handwritten card to tell your moms about how much you love her. Moms always have lots to carry, bottles, treats, diapers, activities and so on. A good looking bag set to help keep her organized without sacrificing style is always a clear winner. Gifting jewelry doesn't always mean you need to spend a small fortune. This statement necklace has a rich look without the high price tag {especially that is 30% off today}. Moms do a lot of running around so flats are totally needed, a little leopard pair shows your mama's sassy side. I'm pretty sure any women mom or not would love a back up charge for their iPhone, especially when it's this cute. Pretty pajamas for her beauty sleep are essential. For the ladies who love to entertain, this beautiful marble platter with silver trim is gorgeous for displaying tasty snacks and such. A subscription to a magazine that celebrates "the art of being a woman" is empowering and fun for flipping through before bedtime.

Happy Shopping!

Summer Clutch

You guys, I have a problem...I am addicted to clutches! I am totally obsessed and can never ever seem to have too many. Even if they are totally annoying to carry while out on the town, they are still by far my favorite purse style out there. I have been coveting one in particular {not avail online or I would share} that is a beautiful black and tan woven pattern and have been told there are four left in the country {totally makes me want more}. Come warm weather {Spring where the frick are you???} I love to swap out my bulkier bags for a more petite clutch, especially in a pretty print or in a natural fabric like raffia, canvas or straw. A little round up of some favorites are below.

Cash Or Credit - Wardrobe Essentials

Thanks to Santa, as a kid my Christmas morning stocking had a ton of subscriptions to fashion magazines. Till this day I love nothing more then lounging around with a good glossy to relax. I know forget which magazine did it but one of my favorite features was always the splurge versus steal on stylish looks for less money, because the more money I saved, the more clothes I was able to buy! I truly enjoy the challenge of creating my version of this series "cash or credit" as it really makes me hunt for the perfect item for less without sacrificing quality, brands or style. So while in my opinion some items that get a ton of use are totally worth splurging on {handbags & outwear}. Today I thought I would share a few favorite wardrobe essentials that are on heavy rotation in my closet like the classic trench, my favorite arrow necklace {seen here & here} and of course great denim and comfy flats for walking around town!

A Downtown Morning

Sorry for the lack of a post today! This morning my husband John and I had the privilege to be part of ringing the morning bell at the NYSE with Globalstar. It was such a lovely morning downtown in this massive city we grew up near and so memorable to be part of such a ceremonial tradition. Some snaps from the morning events are below!

In Your Face

Floral 3D styles are literally popping up {pun intended} everywhere. I am personally loving the added texture on the flowery fashions. I think it's fun to have your look a little more embellished and what is more perfect for spring then some pretty petals in the form of jewelry, accessories, shoes and clothing? Just don't wear it all at once :)

Weekend Wear - Garden Wedding

Remember this post where I shared some gowns that I was contemplating for a black tie wedding we have coming up this summer??? Well they both arrived and were just a bit too matronly and chez boring on me. So I was back on the hunt for the perfect dress for my beautiful friends big day. I then came across this dress and I knew it was perfect for the formal garden occasion. Ding... Ding... Ding, I think we have a winner folks! So excited for this beauty to arrive...here's hoping it's just as fabulous in person as it is online!

Style & Real Estate - Harbour Island

Whenever John and I travel I always like to look up the available real estate and see what is on the market in the area we are staying. It's fun to daydream about owning a property in another country or even just a warmer destination for escaping to when we are fed up with the brutal Boston winters. Our recent St. Lucia trip was no different. While that mountainousness island was truly amazing it wouldn't be ideal for us {I'm a total wimp with heights & giant baby with motion-sickness}, we do however have fond memories of our stay in the Bahamas {also has swimming with pigs so that's a double win} which lead me to the fabulous vacation home of interior designer Allesandra Branca. Don't you just love a peak into the lives of the glamourous.

Where would you ever dream of owning a vacation home???

Adore how the designer incorporated the red stair case railing into the dining room below with the similar style chairs.

When I think of red, white and blue in a home, I instantly think of a Nantucket nautical design. I kinda love how it still works in this Caribbean environment.

I have a serious weakness for double twin beds in a room. It's not always ideal for adult guests but aesthetically they rock my world.

Cocktails on the terrace....yes please!

Freshly Squeezed

A few weekends ago I attended a Tuscan themed bridal brunch that was beautifully decorated with citrus decor, favors, Italian treats and cocktails. I was completely smitten with the hosts fruity design. It was bright, cheerful and perfectly on trend. Since then everywhere I turn I see zesty styles {pun intended} of lemons and oranges in fashions, beauty, paper, entertaining and home decor. Below is a little roundup of some of my favorites.

St. Lucia

I am still basking in the glow of our amazing family vacation. A full week with my twelve crazy family members on the beautiful island of St. Lucia was just too good to be true. While on the trip my brother, sister and I planned to have a little family photo shoot to create an album for our folks as a thank you for spoiling us with this luxurious trip. I thought I would share a few snaps from the shoot.

The White Bag

Spring has finally sprung here in Boston and I couldn't be happier about it. This past Saturday while my husband was out and about with his buddies I decided to take myself for a stroll around the city and do some window shopping (and maybe even a little actual shopping). One item in particular I kept noticing and was really loving was the white bag. Who knew that this simple little accessory could be so versatile and go with every single thing in your closet. I broke down my three favorite style bags and then options in different price points, the Burberry tote has me weak in the knees.

Weekend Wear - Welcome Spring

After a week in paradise I am sooooo not interested in going back to sweaters and coats. Luckily for us in Boston it looks as though Spring might grace us next week and I will be breaking out my favorite silk blouses, classic trench coats & some white denim. What do you look forward to wearing come warmer weather?

Jewelry Tatttoo's

Morning lovelies, I just got in from a very long day of travel but still glowing from the amazing family vacation we had in St. Lucia. My love for the the beach, sun kissed skin and jewelry, I knew I had to share Flash Tattoos with you all. These jewelry inspired temporary tattoos are really beautiful. I love the bold designs and gilded finishes. They are so fun for the warmer temps without any commitment. These modern designs last around 4-6 days and are easy to apply and remove. I am totally smitten with this concept as I have shared my love of a similar concept here. Take a look below at all the gorgeous designs available to adorn yourself with!
