too perfect to be real???

I have shared my complete admiration for Olivia Palermo's incredible style before here but today is more about her number #1 accessory, her German model boyfriend Johannes Huebl.  These two are right off the glossy pages of a magazine with their perfectly coordinated and stylish outfits, warm embraces and annoying good looks. I mean does this happen in real life??? I would think not, but I have yet to read a tabloid blasting the two for anything but being uber romantic with one another. See for yourself and get a glimpse into their softer sides with the images below.

halfsies

There are a few design elements that I covet for a future home, i.e. exposed beam ceilings, a sliding rustic door to a room, dark as night wood floors and so on. One style that took me by suprise but I instantly fell for was the look of a dutch door. While I don't believe in going dutch on dates {sorry fellas, you should still treat a lady}, I do love this feature as an entry way in homes. Whether you use it as the focal point of your main entrance or utilize the style within the walls of your home to separate rooms I just adore the versatile look and features available of this old fashioned style. Check out some of my favorites below.

Adore this glossy black double dutch doors. Stunning.

Dog Thoughts - Give me that cornbread!

such a beautiful entrance to a yard

I adore the uses of these in other ways then just a front door. Perfect for designating rooms for your furry friends and or your child's room having semi-privacy.

The Big Chill

I love a good coat. In the fall and winter its hard to find a way to make being bundled up look chic. I feel a lot of outerwear lacks a tailored look, something that function at keeping you warm without losing your shape underneath all the layers. With all the styles available I believe there is a way to look polished with your coats whether you are dressed up or going casual. Below are some of my favorites and he best part - every style is under $200!!! What is your go to outwear style???

Who says a military style coat has to be structured or stuffy. I adore this swingy lightweight style for casual days walking around town with skinny jeans and some comfy flats.

Tie waist coats are the flipping best to help accentuate your waist and flaunt your curves. I especially love this version for it's detailed collar and cuffs.

Anything with toggles screams New England to me. I have been a long time coveting the famous Burberry Toggle Coat but this one gives the look without having to eat ramen noodles for a month.

A necessity in every women's wardrobe. I particularly love this style for dressed up looks as well as casual. While it may not protect you from all the elements, it's a super versatile piece that can add a lot to your wardrobe.

There is something about this style that I am completely smitten with. The vintage inspired style boasts a fur hood and faux leather details giving it a very "mad men" look that I am loving. Again with looser fit styles I would pair with skinny jeans and some riding boots. I also think this would look incredible over a dress or pencil skirt for a more dressed up pairing.

Cape

Not every hooded coat should just be utilized for the weather. I love a giant hood as a style feature and while this wool material wont do much for you on a rainy day, it is one hell of a stylish jacket for a chilly day.

Puffy jackets typically make me feel like I am wrapped in a down comforter. I love them for their ability to keep you dry and warm. However they are often the worst thing a women can do to her figure, most styles add on an extra 20lbs and I am pretty sure I don't know a single women who wants that look. I chose the style below for it's quilted puffer style and tailored lines that will hug your body instead of being a box above it. It still boasts the hood as well the waterproof material to keep us dry on those wintry mix weather days.

wild wild west

Yesterday as I was walking out the door, my husband said my outfit looked a bit "cowgirl" which inspired me to dabble into a little fashion fix featuring a western style flair. This concept had me flashback to a family vacation back in the early 90's wheere we flew to Tuscon, Arizona to visit ASU for a possible college for my sister.  My father decided to combine the school visit into a family vacation for me and my siblings.  I remember being overly excited about the vacation because my we convinced our dad to rent a Lebaron convertible and seriously what was cooler then that??? In summary, the convertible was everything I had imagined {I am pretty sure there are numerous photos of me pretend driving buried in our family photo albums} the ranch where we stayed was beautifully landscaped with tons of cacti, horses were everywhere for riding and if my memory serves me correctly there was an indoor and outdoor pool, a win win sitch for ever ten year old. However the one thing I was not down with was the hiking of the desert mountains. I am pretty sure at the ripe old age of ten that I knew this wasn't my thing. I had a full meltdown, complained the whole way up and the whole way down, making my father want to send me on a flight back to NY to my mom who was enjoying her peace and quiet. If I had the chance to go back to do a ranch vacation all over. I think my attire would be similar to the below and instead of hiking sandy hills in the scorching heat I would thoroughly enjoy some spa time, horse back riding and drinking wine by an outdoor fire.

Bring some Western elements into your home with these fab finds inspired by the landscapes of the desserts. I adore the modern succulent tray featuring the miniature cacti. Jonathan Adler wins over my heart once more with his horn sculpture. An incredibly affordable cowhide rug is perfect for layering over larger solid jute rugs. Rope doesn't always have to be interpreted in a nautical sense, the mirror below reminded me of a cowboy laso which I think would work incredibly well in a south western style home. The gaucho print pillow boasts a modern flair on a vintage print and finally a great chair with lots of texture, nail heads and the colors of a sunset is the finishing touch to a beautiful wild west inspired interior.

tortoise

I have already shared my complete admiration for the admiration of animal prints such a leopard and the love affair continues on with a different type print - tortoise. Not only does this dynamic pattern  boast the same beloved color palette of black and tan that completely consumes my wardrobe but it's so versatile that it virtually can be paired with any color and look fabulous. It just might the perfect fall accessory to your wardrobe! I always loved this material for eye glasses but the ways to wear this faux animal print is available in so many more stylish ways. The best part is what was once a luxury commodity and required the sacrifice of cute turtles is no longer. The print is usually on resin and made to resemble the endangered animals shell. I am especially smitten with that rhinestone embellished necklace and iPhone case. Which are your favorites???

for the love of the weekend getaway - kennebunkport, me edition

Two weekends ago I took my husband up to one of our favorite destinations to celebrate his 35th birthday. Our tradition of visiting Maine started four years ago while attending a friends wedding in Ogunquit and since then we have fallen hard for the coastal town of Kennebunkport and keep going back for more. This year we stayed at the amazing The Tides Beach Club. I was so excited to call this place home for the night as we have dined here before and knew it was an incredible spot. We were definitely not disappointed. We checked in early, room was ready, lunch was amazing per usual and while the room wasn't huge it was seriously charming with its seaside chic decor.

I loved sitting on this porch with our cocktails watching the comings and goings of the Inn. There was a wedding the following day so the place was filled with happy visitors.

Watermelon cosmo with house infused vodka {so incredible} & front porch punch which should be called passed out punch it was so dang strong, John wanted a nap after one.

How gorgeous is this nautical inspired lobby?!

There are no words for those exquisite lucite bar stools. I wanted to steal one they are so fabulous. Perfectly paired with that caramel tufted leather bar and carrera marble top. If I had a bar in my house {totally could happen} I would want it to look just like this!

Can you even stand this Jonathan Adler Suite - I die.

Our Ocean View Room
{apologies for the terrible IPhone photos}

I loved this textured wallpaper & dark wood floors. Will be copying for a guest bath one day...

Outside our room was a hallway filled with gallery photos on both sides featuring photos of everything beachy, I love a good gallery wall and adore that it was on both sides without looking cluttered.

Earth which is located in Hidden Pond's lux resort was by far one the best meals we have ever eaten. Service was impeccable and the "farm to fork" cuisine was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is casual elegance which couldn't be more perfect for the Maine lifestyle. The interiors were incredibly decorated with rustic elements featuring lots of  exposed wood logs, dark tufted leather couches and vintage lights that my husband and I were totally in love with and want in a future home one day as our "chandelier".

After dinner we walked the grounds and saw some people having their night caps on the outdoor dining areas. A group of women also were laughing around the outdoor fire quipped with blankets and wine to stay for the long haul. It reminded me that this place is perfect for a girls getaway too!

How adorable is this "potting shed" that you can have for a private dinner. A small group was having a gathering the night of our dinner and it looked positively splendid.

After a wonderful day at The Tides Beach Club we headed North to Otis, ME to visit my best friend who moved back home the day after our wedding. Lucky for us this was our view for the following 24 hours. It's absolutely amazing and I am so grateful that her parents kept their camp {what Mainer's call their summer house} open a month longer then usual but also gave us their master suite for the night. We walked into a house of home cooked meals, great company, great wine and FOUR furry friends. However Libby & Lola {below} were the only two to stay for a sleepover. Can you stand how cute they are??? I cannot!
